What’s an ALBUM?? And WHY?? – Part 7.1: The 2010s – Last Gasps | MxG Season 7 Episode 2

SUPPORT THIS PODCAST, SO I CAN BRING YOU A SEASON 7!Join PatreonGet some merchDonate to the fundraiser~~~~FEATURED SONGThe Drop – “Rocket Trip, Man”(from LONG HELD GRUDGES and the soundtrack to the motion picture, DEALeR)In Part 7.1 of my albums by decade series, I tackle the first half of the 2010s. Physical sales had already started dropping in the 2000s. By the mid 2010s, all physical formats were well under half the market share of digital and streaming, and it was only the beginning. We might forget, though, that until later in the decade, physical sales were still a force. Despite the 2000s being seen as the turning point from physical to digital, it’s really the 2010s where the changeover happened. As it did, the definition of what an album is started to change as well, with packaging and sequence becoming far less important than singles and whatever would get music to sell online. What were your favorite albums of the first half of the 2010s? Do you think albums still had cultural influence? Discuss dammit!BONUS MxTRA VIDEO: How the physical/digital crossover left musicians behind~~~*intro music credit: REC - "Wake Up High"*mid roll music credit: The Drop - "Outerloper" Learn more about your ad choices. Shout It Out Loudcast: Album Review Crew "W.A.S.P Debut Album"

On the 57th Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & special guest, lead guitarist and songwriter from the band Restrayned, Tony Musallam review the 1984 self titled debut album from W.A.S.P..W.A.S.P's debut album came two years after the band was formed. The Los Angeles based band was founded by lead singer, songwriter and bassist, Blackie Lawless. Blackie was a veteran of L.A. scene. Chris Holmes, who later became famous for his appearance in "Decline Of The Western Civilization II: The Metal Years", was the lead guitarist and rhythm guitarist along with Randy Piper. The drummer was Tony Richards.W.A.S.P. had become a target of the Parents Music Resource Center "PMRC" and their lead single "Animal (Fuck Like A Beast)" was taken off their debut album by their label for fear of backlash. The album featured hard rock, metal and shock rock as well. Blackie's trademark vocals and shock themes separated W.A.S.P. from a lot of the other L.A. bands. The band had a couple of videos as well to promote their shock rock image. The album made it to Number 74 on the US Billboard charts and went gold. The album was produced by Blackie Lawless and Mike Varney. As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and the album cover against the previous albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew. This was Shout It Out Loudcast's Patreon pick.So tune in to see if the SIOL Patreon members were B.A.D. in selecting this album and if they made SIOL sad or if the torture will ever stop.To Purchase W.A.S.P.’s Debut Album On Amazon Click Below: W.A.S.P.'s Debut Album To Purchase Shout It Out Loudcast’s KISS Book “Raise Your Glasses: A Celebration Of 50 Years of KISS Songs By Celebrities, Musicians & Fans Please Click Below: Raise Your Glasses Book For all things Shout It Out Loudcast check out our amazing website by clicking below: www.ShoutItOutLoudcast.com Interested in more Shout It Out Loudcast content? Care to help us out? Come join us on Patreon by clicking below: SIOL Patreon Get all your Shout It Out Loudcast Merchandise by clicking below: Shout It Out Loudcast Merchandise at AMAZON Shop At Our Amazon Store by clicking below:Shout It Out Loudcast Amazon Store Please Email us comments or suggestions by clicking below:ShoutItOutLoudcast@Gmail.com Please subscribe to us and give us a 5 Star (Child) review on the following places below:iTunesPodchaserStitcheriHeart RadioSpotify  Please follow us and like our social media pages clicking below:TwitterFacebook PageFacebook Group Page Shout It Out LoudcastersInstagramYouTube Proud Member of the Pantheon Podcast click below to see the website:Pantheon Podcast Network Learn more about your ad choices. Only Three Lads: Top 5 Underrated Male Singers

Which male singers do you feel deserve more love and respect? That, dear friends, is the question we ponder this week with someone who knows - veteran circuit singer Dave Dawson.Dave's new book, Pop Idle: 30 Years on the Road as a Professional Singer, is an honest, humourous, insightful look at life on the bottom rung of the showbiz ladder.Like hordes of others, best-selling author Dave Dawson has spent decades crisscrossing the UK as a solo full-time professional musician. During his 30 years on the road, he has performed thousands of shows before tens of thousands of people, yet still remains one of the army of anonymous entertainers who literally sing for their supper, as part of the Never Ending UK Tour. From pubs to clubs, dives to luxury hotels, theatres to gardens, and hen nights to care homes, there’s hardly a live environment that he hasn’t encountered, enjoyed or endured.Along the way, he’s had brushes with fame and fandom, strippers and stalkers, crooks and colourful characters, pissed-up punters and prima donnas… and has banked a wealth of experience at the brunt of the live music circuit. You may also know Dave Dawson as Dave Philpott, who appeared with us last season to discuss his bestselling book series of bonkers letters to pop stars with real replies - Dear Mr. Kershaw, Dear Mr. Pop Star, Grammar Free in the UK, and Dear Catherine Wheel.Oh, and despite the tendency to poke a little fun at Hanson's ubiquitous 1997 earworm 'Mmm Bop', Taylor Hanson probably is underrated. Listen to the Tinted Windows album for proof of that! But we won't let that fact stand in the way of a bit.Proudly part of the Pantheon Podcasts family. Learn more about your ad choices.
