Shout It Out Loudcast: Album Review Crew "Foot Loose & Fancy Free"
On the 56th Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & special guest, author James Campion, review the 1977 legendary album by Rod Stewart, "Foot Loose & Fancy Free.""Foot Loose & Fancy Free" was Rod Stewart's eighth studio album. It continued Rod's 70's solo artist success. Rod's legendary vocals were in prime condition and he had tremendous band behind him. He had three guitarists, Gary Grainger, Jim Cregan and Billy Peek. His bassist was renowned session player Phil Chen. The keyboard player was Jon Barlow Jarvis and on the drums was the legendary Carmine Appice. This band could match up with any other band in the 1970's.The album featured three huge hits that have been in rotation on rock radio since the album was released, including "Hot Legs," "You're In My Heart (The Final Acclaim)" and "I Was Only Joking." Those three songs even had videos which were starting to become fashionable. The album also includes typical Rod Stewart ballads, some funk, some psychedelic rock, prog rock and more. The album made it to Number 2 on the US Billboard charts and has now gone 3X platinum. The album was produced by legendary Tom Dowd and was considered the last of his rocking 70's albums. As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and the album cover against the previous albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew. This was Zeus' pick.So tune in to the documentary type of breakdown of the "Hot Legs" video and to see if the guys man crush on Rod is stronger than theirs on Michael Hutchence of INXS!To Purchase Rod Stewart’s “Foot Loose And Fance Free” On Amazon Click Below: Rod Stewart's "Foot Loose And Fancy Free" To Purchase Shout It Out Loudcast’s KISS Book “Raise Your Glasses: A Celebration Of 50 Years of KISS Songs By Celebrities, Musicians & Fans Please Click Below: Raise Your Glasses Book For all things Shout It Out Loudcast check out our amazing website by clicking below: www.ShoutItOutLoudcast.com Interested in more Shout It Out Loudcast content? Only Three Lads: The Apartments' Peter Milton Walsh - Top 5 Winter Songs
"Top 5 Winter Songs? A winter themed episode, lads? In August?!? Good timing, doofuses!"We hear you, imaginary (and, frankly, rather rude) podcast critic. And our retort is that our friends in the southern hemisphere are still firmly in the grips of winter. For example, our Third Lad this week, one of the greatest songwriters that Australia has ever produced (and an artist who is on the short list of Brett's musical heroes), Peter Milton Walsh from The Apartments!PMW has led the Apartments in various incarnations since 1978, starting with the spiky indie pop of the EP 'The Return of the Hypnotist' on The Go-Betweens' Able Label. After brief stints with The Go-Betweens and Ed Kuepper's post-Saints band The Laughing Clowns, the Apartments reformed in 1984 with the classic single "All You Wanted." Their first full length, 'The Evening Visits...And Stays For Years', followed in 1985 on Rough Trade, with the 1987 single "The Shyest Time" featured on the John Hughes soundtrack for Some Kind of Wonderful. Among the Apartments' string of breathtakingly gorgeous, diverse records are 'Drift' (1993), 'A Life Full Of Farewells' (1995), 'Apart' (1997), 'No Song No Spell No Madrigal' (2015), and 'In And Out Of The Light' (2020). For the uninitiated, Welcome to Walsh World!Peter stopped by in between sessions for a forthcoming record. Just as a small forewarning, we recorded our lists afterwards...so any juvenile, off-topic or off-colour side conversations about pillows, tank tops, getting lost in department stores, or Art Garfunkel lookalikes are no reflection on the pure class of Mr. Walsh. Hopefully, to quote the man himself, we didn't "take something good and make a mess of it".Special thanks to Marc Shea from the great fellow Pantheon show Performance Anxiety for the introduction, and much gratitude to Peter's wife Kate for the coordination. This was an incredible thrill for us!Proud members of the Pantheon Podcasts family. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Love That Album - Interview with Glen Humphries, author of "Aussie Rock Anthems: The Stories Behind Our Biggest Hit Songs"
As music lovers, we've all had a soundtrack to our lives....it's provided to us by the radio. Maybe at this point in the 21st century, that's less of a given. Was it the internet that killed the radio star? Who can truly say, but for most of the rock era, radio has provided songs that millions of music fans would discover, sing along to, discuss with their friends, learn to play on their instrument of choice, get amorous to, get stoned to, or cherish for some personal reason.Welcome to episode 179 of Love That Album. It's been said that in the early days of rock and roll, tyranny of distance made Australian music tougher than its Northern Hemisphere counterparts. Henry Silva might have asked, “Bullshit Or Not?” What is for certain is that Australian rock musicians could often become huge in their home country, but not raise an eyebrow anywhere else (the reverse is also true, but that's a story for another episode).Author Glen Humphries has just published a terrific book called “Aussie Rock Anthems: The Stories Behind Our Biggest Hit Songs". He writes 40 essays about popular songs from the 1960s through to the first decade of the 21st century. These essays tell stories about songs that many Australians grew up with. Some became popular outside our borders, some didn't. These songs show a huge diversity – where else will you get Shadap You Face occupying the same tome as Khe Sanh? At some stage or another, these songs all meant something to the wider Australian populus, and Glen weaves fascinating tales that cover politics, sporting pride, cultural cringe, and musical invention. I was rapt to have someone to discuss these songs with me. Neither of us were fans of every one of the songs covered in the book, and inevitably, people will argue about what was left out. What's important is that these songs all have interesting backstories and are worthy of being celebrated.Tune into find which songs Glen and I absolutely detest...and those we love. You can watch the videos of all the songs in the book at:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-hDK76bIps&list=PLJN0hAdSkVNXxaVd4l4hWOAa3l5u85rAH&fbclid=IwY2xjawFJFx5leHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHTzxc0uDiMYmVj1_cUK_A_2TDL93qk8AIbZ7I4wJ_XSchZykEzkHEKWB5Q_aem_uII4NG3Lme6zceP8Gxn8Igor you can listen to the Spotify playlist at: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/28mak27jhmIWSFsYGGlFgC?si=iOUWpNq-QfmuHUVDsB9erA&pi=dtdCj9ZKQYKeC&nd=1&dlsi=6991f678a35947b1You can get the book from the usual places you get books (like bookstores) or Amazon or at https://www.geldingstreetpress.com/product/aussie-rock-anthems-top-40/Download this episode of LTA from your podcast app of choice (not Spotify).
