Ugly American Werewolf in London: Autumn Whitaker on the We Are One Inauguration Concert 2009

No matter which candidates you may have voted for, we at The Wolf are just glad it's all over. The nasty ads and ridiculous yard signs are no way to spend your fall. Win or lose, it's time to get back to what's important - Keeping Rock Alive!!On that note, we do have an election related story from our friend Autumn Whitaker who taught us about Gentle Giant's Octopus on episode 101. It turns out she was in Washington DC for inauguration week in January 2009 and on January 18th the We Are One Concert was put on at the Lincoln Memorial. Over 400,000 people showed up to see speeches from accomplished actors, activists and politicians. But more importantly, some of the biggest rock stars on the planet came to celebrate including Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, U2, James Taylor, John Legend, Beyonce, Shakira, Cheryl Crow, Stevie Wonder and more.Autumn gives us the lowdown on what was happening in the green room as the performers took turns coming and going from the stage. And though she didn't perform to the crowd, she did pick up a guitar and strum out Led Zeppelin's All Of My Love in the green room. As she focused on her playing, she noticed a man's shoes directly in front of her. Steadfast in her playing, she responded "No, I'm OK" to whoever it was that offered her a pick. After she heard chuckles, she looked up to realize it was her idol - Bruce Springsteen!! With Autumn's endearing charm she talks about meeting The Boss, blowing off Jon Bon Jovi, messing with Bono and asking James Taylor what was wrong with his eye.Whether you're on the right or the left, you'll enjoy this tale of an inauguration concert like no other! Shout It Out Loudcast: "Destroyer"

This week Tom & Zeus celebrate their 300th episode with their review of the 1976 legendary album from KISS, "Destroyer!"This was KISS' 4th studio album and the 24th and LAST KISS studio album reviewed by SIOL.KISS was riding high after their live album "Alive" broke through and went gold. The power and energy of a live KISS show was the missing ingredient to get KISS their big break. Not wanting to rest on their recent success, the band brought producer Bob Ezrin from Alice Cooper fame in to help them "get to the next level." Ezrin was like no producer KISS ever had before or since. Bringing the best out of the members and co-writing 7 of the 9 tracks, Ezrin's fingerprints were all over Destroyer.Destroyer was very different then the previous raw three albums. This album had choirs, ghost players, a ballad, orchestras and even a calliope. The final result was KISS most commercial, critically acclaimed and perhaps polarizing album. The album features some of KISS most legendary songs, including, Detroit Rock City, God Of Thunder, Shout It Out Loud, Beth and more.As usual the guys breakdown and analyze the tracks and rank the songs SIOL style. As always, they then compare the album and album cover and rank it against the previous studio albums reviewed. There is no better way to celebrate Shout It Out Loudcast's 300th episode than with an album review of perhaps KISS' best album.Oh and don't miss the cameo congratulations from the band members (cough) on SIOL's 300th Episode! In this episode, Philip Cohen joins the Rock is Lit Season 4 Reading Series to share a few chapters of his novel ‘Conflict in the City’. Mixing and blending the genres of detective noir and music, ‘Conflict in the City’ takes place in greater Los Angeles, home to both classic and modern fictional LA detectives like Raymond Chandler’s Phillip Marlowe and Michael Connolly’s Harry Bosch, and music legends like the Doors, Van Halen, and The Mamas and The Papas. It’s in this world that we find Johnny “Whoops” Watson and Billy Bates, young guitarists/singers and their band, Conflict, playing clubs in modern LA, where the days of rock’s zenith and ascendance in the 1960s and 1970s has faded, but the hopes and dreams of aspiring musicians haven’t. Conflict is struggling and chaos ensues when someone linked closely to the band is killed. Billy and Johnny become swept up in the mystery, ill-prepared as they are to confront it.Philip M. Cohen was born in New York City and moved to Los Angeles as a young man. A musician since his pre-teens, he began writing songs and playing with bands in his teens and had a near-encounter with fame with his band The Heaters. He then became a music attorney to pay the bills, but continued to write, perform, and record music. Presently, Phil still consults on legal and business matters but spends most of his time writing and playing music, composing, recording, and performing with his two bands, Dogs and Bones and The Silver Heaters, consisting of former members of The Heaters. ‘Conflict in the City’ is his first published novel and ‘Conflict in the Club’, the second. Shout It Out Loudcast: Album Review Crew "Apple"

On the 58th Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & special guest, Brad Rusthoven from the Slamfest Podcast, review the 1990 debut album from Mother Love Bone, "Apple."Mother Love Bone has legendary status amongst grunge fans. The band was formed in Seattle from another legendary early grunge band, Green River. The band was led by charismatic frontman and main songwriter, Andrew Wood. Guitarist Stone Gossard of Green River and latter Pearl Jam on rhythm and lead guitar and Bruce Fairweather on lead and rhythm guitar as well. Jeff Ament previously of Green River and later of Pearl Jam fame on bass and Greg Gilmore on drums. The album was a mixture of alt rock, glam metal and future grunge. Hard hitting lyrics which also showed a lighter and more fun side of the "Seattle Sound." Mother Love Bone was one of the earliest Seattle bands to be destined for greatness with their debut album coming on a major label. However, Andrew Wood's death from heroin overdose on March 19, 1990 was tragic end of this upcoming band. The album was released a few months later on July 19, 1990. A tribute album/band, Temple Of The Dog further created the legend of Mother Love Bone as did the breakout of Pearl Jam shortly thereafter. As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and the album cover against the previous albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew. This was Tom's pick.So tune in to learn about the "Love Commander" and what was Brad doing in the bathroom? He had the water running all day!To Purchase Mother Love Bone’s “Apple” On Amazon Click Below: Mother Love Bone's "Apple" To Purchase Shout It Out Loudcast’s KISS Book “Raise Your Glasses: A Celebration Of 50 Years of KISS Songs By Celebrities, Musicians & Fans Please Click Below: Raise Your Glasses Book For all things Shout It Out Loudcast check out our amazing website by clicking below: www.ShoutItOutLoudcast.com Interested in more Shout It Out Loudcast content? Care to help us out? Come join us on Patreon by clicking below: SIOL Patreon Get all your Shout It Out Loudcast Merchandise by clicking below: Shout It Out Loudcast Merchandise at AMAZON Shop At Our Amazon Store by clicking below:Shout It Out Loudcast Amazon Store Please Email us comments or suggestions by clicking below:ShoutItOutLoudcast@Gmail.com Please subscribe to us and give us a 5 Star (Child) review on the following places below:iTunesPodchaserStitcheriHeart RadioSpotify  Please follow us and like our social media pages clicking below:TwitterFacebook PageFacebook Group Page Shout It Out LoudcastersInstagramYouTube Proud Member of the Pantheon Podcast click below to see the website:Pantheon Podcast Network Learn more about your ad choices.
