Heart of Dating is excited to welcome back Jonathan (JP) Pokluda to the show! He is the lead pastor of Harris Creek Baptist Church in Waco, TX and hosts the podcast Becoming Something. Previously, he was the leader of The Porch and teaching pastor of Watermark Community Church, both in Dallas, TX. Under his leadership, The Porch grew to be the largest young adult ministry of its kind in the world. JP came to understand the grace of the gospel in his early twenties after being involved in different denominational churches his entire life. This ignited a desire in him to inspire young adults to radically follow Jesus Christ and unleash them to change the world. Most recently, he has seen this passion expressed through writing. His bestselling book, Welcome to Adulting, offers Millennials a roadmap to navigate faith, finances, friendships, and the future. His most recent book release, Welcome to Adulting Survival Guide, is a 42-day guide dedicated to those in their 20s and 30s. He’s also recently released his new book “Welcome to the Future Church”.  JP's partner in ministry is Monica, his wife of fifteen years, and together they disciple their children Presley, Finley, and Weston. On today's episode, JP talks about how we can combat online temptations and pornography as we face self-isolation, quarantine, and social distancing in this time in history facing the COVID-19 outbreak. He talks about his own struggles as well as practical ways to fight this addiction.  JP talks about the increased temptation of porn during quarantine and how to seek accountability in a time of loneliness. Carson Blair baseball professionally for 12 years. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox out of high school, played for Red Sox, the Oakland A’s and even the Rangers. Carson is a huge health nut and passionate about health and wellness and is also a bonafide enneagram 5, which pairs interestingly with Angela’s enneagram 7 nature. Also in surprising news, Angela was his first girlfriend, which he explains more on today’s interview. Heart of Dating welcomes Kait’s friend Kristine Jackson from Onsite Workshops! Onsite is a therapy retreat center dedicated to changing lives through advanced emotional health. Kristine is a Clinical Supervisor at Onsite. With a Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania, Kristine went to UCLA for a certification in co-occurring disorders. She remained in California for the next two decades working as Clinical Director of mental health, addictions and eating disorder programs. As a lifelong learner, Jackson is certified in several modalities including Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Eating Disorders (CEDS), Daring Way (DWCF-C) and Experiential Therapy (CET I). She lives in Nashville with her husband, Kelly and their dog, Scully. Matt talks about what it means to fight for a relationship and let go of expectations. Today Kait had the privilege of sitting down with a new friend, Dr. Morgan Francis to talk about body image and body shame an it’s affect on dating. Dr. Morgan Francis is a Doctor of Clinical Psychology and a Licensed Mental Health Therapist as well as a wife and mother to three children in Scottsdale, Arizona. She is the owner of Scottsdale Premier Counseling, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Her mission is to break through the mental health shame game. With over 20 years of experience specializing in the treatment of Body Image and Eating Disorders, Dr. Francis can empower you to make peace with your body and food. Dr. Francis believe that for too long society has been embracing Diet Culture and pushing you to believe how you look is not good enough. No matter how thin or fit you look, you cannot outrun the pressures that surround you. The transformation of loving and appreciating your body happens internally, not externally. Dr. Francis has developed online courses on Body image and Self- Love that will help you to take back your life. She has also been featured on a variety of events and news outlets from the Powerhouse Women’s Event, and was even recognized by Lululemon as a Female Leader making a difference for her inspiring work on Body Image.
