Sometimes people ask for my advice and when I give it to them, they get their metaphoric nose out of joint because they don't actually want my advice; they want my endorsement. My approval. They want me to make them feel good about the thing they've already done or the thing they're going to do. Half a lifetime ago (for him), Tommy Jackett stumbled into my reality as a peculiarly curious, enthusiastic and passionate kid wanting to hang out with, and learn from, yours truly.
