#1694 Netty, NBA & New Horizons - Renae Ingles
Another one of my amazing (ex) athletes graces the TYP studio today and Renae and I go deep talking about the mental and emotional cost of being an 'obsessed' professional athlete, when emotion is considered weakness, the pros and cons of vulnerability, living on the other side of the world with her NBA basketballer husband (Joe), raising their three little humans in often-trying circumstances, being a 'WAG' who doesn't always fit in, finding identity, purpose and happiness after professional sport, building a new career and lots more. In case you don't know, Renae was one of the world's best netballers for more than a decade, having won international player of the year twice, world championships, Commonwealth Games gold, multiple premierships in the national league, way too many awards and she represented Australia 67 times. Oh, and she also has a Master's Degree in High-Performance Sport. Other than all that, she's a dud. Lol. renaeingles.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#1693 What The F**k Is Blu Ray? - Patrick Bonello
If there was any doubt about Patrick's sanity, everything is cleared up in this episode, when he chats about the thousand plus movies he has on Blu Ray (individually purchased for $20 plus). If you're old enough to remember 'Seinfeld' being marketed as a "show about nothing" well, this episode is essentially a Seinfeld podcast. Weirdly, some of you will still enjoy it. #1692 Marigold's Magic Stars - Samantha Wills
I loved meeting Samantha (she's ace) and this was a fun chat about talent, creativity, intelligence, self-doubt, self-belief, imposter syndrome, courage, getting out of our own way and the challenge of turning an idea in our head into an 'actual' thing for everyone else (outside our head) to see, experience and enjoy. Samantha Wills is an award-winning designer, author, speaker, and advocate for the arts. Founding one of Australia's most popular jewellery brands from her dining table at just 21, which went on to be hailed as "Australia's biggest export since Vegemite." Her debut book, Of Gold & Dust, became an instant bestseller, chronicling her journey with raw vulnerability and humour, revealing the realities of a creative founder behind the highlight reel of social media and public appearances. Named a breakout star by The New York Times, Samantha's first venture into children's literature, Marigold's Magic Stars, was created to inspire children to recognise the importance and intelligence of their creativity, embodying the message, "You can't spell smart without art!" samanthawills.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#1691 The Sh*t Stirrer - Damon Hayhow
Years ago, I remember hearing about this outspoken, straight-shooting, anti-establishment, enigmatic bodybuilder, fitness industry bloke and gym owner called Damon Hayhow. Some years later we met at his Melbourne gym and everything I had heard, was true. But not in a bad way; he wasn't some ranting angry idiot. No, he was a highly-intelligent, deep-thinking pracademic who challenged convention (if he thought it was stupid or ineffective) and asked questions that some people didn’t want asked. So, after a few years (and more than a thousand interim episodes), it was fun to get Damon back on TYP, and to discover that he's now living in a part of the world that I would not have guessed if he gave me fifty attempts. Enjoy. damonhayhow.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#1690 Life After Elite Sport - Bianca Chatfield
Bianca Chatfield is one of the many elite athletes I trained over my decades working with various teams, athletes and sporting organisations. Apart from being one of my charges, we have also enjoyed a great friendship over the years and for this episode, we caught up to shoot the breeze about life post-sport, and it's fair to say that she hasn't been sitting on her hands! *Bio: Bianca Chatfield is a former Australia netball international. Between 2001 and 2014 she made 59 senior appearances for Australia, was a member of the Australian teams that won the gold medals at the 2007 World Netball Championships and the 2014 Commonwealth Games. During a thirteen year playing career she also played in six premiership winning teams - four with the Melbourne Phoenix and two with the Melbourne Vixens. She captained the Vixens for eight seasons, including when they won the 2009 and 2014 ANZ Championships.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#1689 The Late Bloomer - Harps
Hi Everyone, we’ve got a bunch of great new interviews lined up from tomorrow but today we’re revisiting a popular episode from a few years back. Still good info, still relevant and still life-changing if we apply it consistently. I’ve been posting about some of my inspiring ’more experienced’ friends lately, so with that in mind, I thought a chat about getting better with age might be a nice fit. Enjoy. #1688 Choosing Hard - Harps
If you want a verbal cuddle today, this episode ain’t for you. But, if you need a mental and behavioural reset, it might be exactly what you need (not want). *You and I live in a world obsessed with convenience, comfort, instant gratification and all-things 'easy’. Just ask the marketing people and they'll tell you what sells. Quick fixes. Magic pills. All-things 'reward-without-work' and of course, the ever-popular 'hack'. But in our quest for painless success, who are we becoming? Is our obsession with the easy path making us more resilient or less? More capable under pressure or less? Stronger or weaker? Healthier or unhealthier? More productive or less? Happier or sadder? In simple terms, is our endeavour to avoid all-things hard, working or not? In many ways, our obsession with avoiding things that are physically, mentally and emotionally challenging is a self-created prison. A prison where we are becoming weaker, less resilient, more afraid, more anxious and less capable of dealing with the mess, mayhem and madness that life brings.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#1687 Wonder Woman - Dr. Sabrina Cohen-Hatton (PT2)
I’ve interviewed some impressive people over the last six years but nobody more impressive than this amazing lady. This episode is a re-boot of one of my all-time favourite TYP experiences. To say Dr. Sabrina Cohen-Hatton is impressive, is like saying the Universe is kind-of big. Sabrina is a Doctor of Neuropsychology, a Psychologist, renowned academic Researcher, best-selling Author and one of the most senior female Firefighters in the UK, overseeing twenty-five stations and a thousand staff. Oh yeh, she also grew up in poverty, violence and uncertainty, spent two years homeless and living on the streets (15-17), was the victim of physical, mental and emotional abuse, yet somehow found a way to not only survive, but thrive and now spends her life trying to make the world a safer and better place. If you need some inspiration, this is it. @dr_sab_cohenhattonSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#1685 Avoiding Nemo - David Gillespie
Our resident kill-joy, status quo challenger and cage-rattler is back rattling, challenging and killing. As he does. This time we learn why fish might not be the super-food we were led to believe, why David's family hasn't consumed tap water in fifteen years, why the same protein bar is being sold (marketed, labelled) as two different bars (one for men, one for women), how the health star rating system for food products works, the celebrity who almost died from mercury poisoning and finally, we chat about the terrifying relationship between seed oils and macular degeneration. Enjoy (if you can - lol). See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
