When Will I Be Loved? - Thoughts from Kevin
There's an old song that I like by The Everly Brothers, When Will I Be Loved? Or perhaps you've heard the Linda Ronstadt version? As a leader, this might be a question you've asked before - WHEN will I be loved? How do others feel about me as a leader? Am I making a difference? Am I having an impact of my team and organization? And while these are valid questions that we will all likely have at one time or another, they are a bit misguided. Rather, we need to frame it and think about it another way. Tweet it out: Our job as a leader isn't to be loved or even liked - but to be likable and work to build good working relationships. @KevinEikenberry From This Episode: Learn more about and listen to episodes of The Remarkable Leadership Podcast.

Tips for New Managers with Peter Economy
Congratulations! You just landed a new leadership position, now go lead. Does this sound familiar? Many people have found themselves in this position and the answer to training was to observe their boss. This may work and is probably how your boss learned. However, according to Peter Economy, this "leadership training" becomes a downward spiral and the result is poor managers. This isn't intentional, and nevertheless, we know most people leave their jobs because of a bad boss. Peter is a best-selling author of over 100 books and joins Kevin to discuss his latest, Wait, I'm the Boss?!? Kevin and Peter discuss the transition of being an expert to a leader and some of the mistakes and difficulties new leaders face. Duty or Service? - Thoughts from Kevin
"You need to report to jury duty." Have you ever gotten a card with this message on it? I have, and quite recently in fact. And during my time there, I got to thinking about those words: JURY DUTY. While many will look at it as a DUTY, I don't think that the word accurately describe what is intended. Instead, I think it should be JURY SERVICE. Check out this episode for my thoughts on duty versus service and more importantly, what these words mean to us as leaders. Tweet it out: Focus on how you can serve today, not on what your duty requires. @KevinEikenberry From This Episode: If you'd like to receive my daily email and be a part of a fun and interesting community, you can learn more and sign up here.

The Innovation Stack with Jim McKelvey
If only. If only I had years of experience. If only I had the credentials. Jim McKelvey believes if we wait for the right moment to do things, the important things won't get done. Jim is the co-founder of Square (which was inducted into the Museum of Modern Art in 2011) and author of The Innovation Stack: Building an Unbeatable Business One Crazy Idea at a Time. He shares the inspiration for his book and why he thinks the important stuff that we do are things that have not been done before. Jim recognizes most of the work done is a replicate of previous work. We take knowledge and go. This works (sometimes even great), it just doesn't create anything new. However, when we work through solving a problem and keep solving the problems, wonderful things can happen, and the innovation evolves. In this episode, Jim talks about 1. Moving through ideas, even with restrictions. 2. Components of the Innovation Stack. 3. The importance of a checklist. This episode is brought to you by...
