News broke recently that the Boy Scouts of America is changing its name to Scouting America on the organization's 115th anniversary. According to the Associated Press, the Boy Scouts will become Scouting America in an effort to emphasize inclusion as it works to move past the turmoil of bankruptcy and a flood of sexual abuse claims. Scouts' lack of acknowledgement of the crisis among boys in our culture is only a small part of the problem. I’m joined today by Mark Hancock, the CEO of Trail Life USA which is an answer to the deep crisis affecting boys in America. I grew up in an angry home, and it had a profound impact on my roles as a wife and a mother. It’s so important to understand the root causes of anger to learn how to manage it in a healthy way. Five years ago, a whole lot of the country sleepily went throughout their average days and election days without having any clue how much it really mattered who was in our local or state offices. I’d venture to say many didn’t even see how much damage one president could do in just four years’ time. But it’s awfully clear now! Parents at school board meetings called domestic terrorists, a presumptive republican presidential candidate prosecuted and convicted for years old crimes that had no detrimental effect on literally anyone, and ordinary citizens jailed for praying outside of abortion clinics and charged with KKK crimes for exercising free speech. We can not keep sitting it out and hoping for the best! Don’t live in fear, but use your voice to inform yourself and those in your circle.
