Today on the podcast, I’m replying to a question I am getting a lot lately: “How do we respond to the cultural push to normalize gender fluidity?” This is an important topic, but we can’t talk about transgender issues—or any other issue—without first remembering that God calls us to speak the truth in love. God loves us, no matter our struggles. Surely His heart breaks over the sin that is causing people to do irreparable harm to their bodies in the name of finding their own version of truth. We are a culture in crisis. Somehow we’ve come to a place where women who do not want men in their bathrooms and locker rooms are accused of bigotry and labeled “transphobic.” It’s an upside-down world and it’s requiring that we have a tough conversation. Here’s the thing: If we don’t set a place for the truth of Scripture at the table of our children’s hearts, the world will set out a feast all it’s own. A Spiritual Crisis and a Crossroad: How Should Christians Respond? – Looking around, it’s clear that many Christians have unbuckled the belt of truth under enormous pressure from the culture. Many pastors have begun exchanging the truth of God’s Word for the easy “truth” of the world in an effort to be “loving,” except that denying the truth of God is never loving. I have to wonder if those pastors who will not stand on the authority of Scripture care more about winning a popularity contest than they do about speaking the truth.

Did you know that as a Christian, you are an “ambassador” for Christ? God says you are making His appeal through the way you live your life! God’s Word provides guidance for Christians trying to make sense of the transgender moment.When it comes to transgenderism, the Bible actually has a lot to say—not by a prooftext here or there but by a rich and pervasive understanding of gender and sexual identity. (See TGC article) Obviously, transgenderism, as a cultural trend, is incredibly complex, touching on fields as disparate as genetics, fashion, medicine, law, education, entertainment, athletics, and religious liberty. We need Christians thinking through, and talking to, all of these issues.
