David Ulrich is an active photographer and writer whose work has been published in numerous books and journals, including Aperture, Parabola, MANOA, and Sierra Club publications. Ulrich's photographs have been exhibited internationally in over seventy-five one-person and group exhibitions in museums, galleries, and universities. He is currently co-director of the Pacific New Media Foundation in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. He has taught for Pacific New Media, the University of Hawai‘i Mānoa, and was a Professor and Chair of the Art Department at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. He served as Associate Professor and Chair of the Photography Department of The Art Institute of Boston for fifteen years. Ed Kashi is a renowned photojournalist, filmmaker, speaker and educator who has been making images and telling stories for 40 years. His restless creativity has continually placed him at the forefront of new approaches to visual storytelling. Dedicated to documenting the social and political issues that define our times, a sensitive eye and an intimate and compassionate relationship with his subjects are signatures of his intense and unsparing work. As a member of VII Photo Agency, Kashi has been recognized for his complex imagery and compelling rendering of the human condition. Kashi’s innovative approach to photography and filmmaking has produced several influential short films and earned recognition by the POYi Awards as 2015’s Multimedia Photographer of the Year. TCF Ep. 588 - Arturo Soto
Arturo Soto was born in 1981 in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. He has published the photobooks In the Heat (2018) and A Certain Logic of Expectations (2021). Soto holds a PhD in Fine Art from the University of Oxford, an MFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York, and an MA in Art History from University College London. He curated the exhibition Foreign Correspondence at the Architectural Association and took part in the first edition of Forecast Platform at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt. His work has been exhibited internationally and is included in the books Primal Sight, Imaginaria, and the Subjective Atlas of Mexico. Soto's photobook reviews have been published in ASX, Elephant, and the VII Foundation. Ex-medical doctor Norman Seeff emigrated from South Africa to New York in 1968 to pursue a career as a photographer, filmmaker, and designer. Three years later, he relocated to Los Angeles as Art Director at United Artists Records, where his album cover designs and photography received many Grammy nominations. He went independent in 1975 and has worked with hundreds of artists, including Ray Charles, The Rolling Stones, Miles Davis, Ike and Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Joni Mitchell, and many others. Seeff is now engaged in documentary filmmaking, focusing on exploring the inner dynamics of the creative process. KAREN BALLARD is an award-winning photojournalist and local 600 motion picture still photographer based in Los Angeles. Entertainment clients include Warner Bros, Universal, Sony, Paramount, Netflix, CBS Films, Amazon, The Walt Disney Company, Lionsgate, HBO, and ABC Television.
