Max is joined by Cameron Ponsonby for a melancholic look at the 4th day's play at Adelaide. The day went pretty much as expected, but the journey there was at least an interesting one. Root took the ball to the unmentionables (twice), Ollie Robinson bowled off spin, Dawid Malan got Marnus Labuschagne as first test wicket, and England briefly looked all right with the bat. But it was the same old story by the end, as Root fell last ball to Mitchell Starc to leave England with no real hope of batting out the final day. The only question is, how long will it all take? Entering day 3 of the day/night Test, England will need to hope that they are in a good position to level the series. Australia, on the other hand, will want to ensure their good start wasn't wasted and will be looking to go 2-0 up. On the day England started with hope, as Root and Malan built a fine partnership before the first break. However the afternoon session was a disaster for England, as they collapsed to leave Australia on the verge of 2-0. So far in the day's play Australia have batted carefully, making England work very hard in the field. Labuschagne became the third fastest Australian to 2000 Test runs, Warner added another 50 to his collection, and only Marcus Harris failed. Eventually Warner was out, caught by Broad in strange circumstances. And England could have had Labuschagne too, had Buttler not dropped a clanger at the end of the day.  England bowled well, but without a lot of threat, as Anderson and Broad returned to the team. In the end Australia ran out as easy winners, after England collapsed in the morning. This means they will take a 1-0 lead into the day night Test in Adelaide.  England have a lot to think about. After their remarkable day 3 fight back, it took less than a session for them to collapse and lose their remaining 8 wickets. This handed Australia an easy win.
