#056 Hank Wangford (The Rock N Roll Doctor)
Country singer Hank Wangford has always had one foot in medicine and one foot in music, which is why he became known as the Rock N Roll Doctor. During the sixties & seventies Hank served as a personal doctor to the likes of Keith Moon, Keith Richards & Gram Parsons - Gram was actually responsible for switching Hank on to country music and inspiring his career as a country singer. In this week's episode of Life In The Stocks, Hanks shares his incredible life story with Matt, from growing up with overtly communist parents to studying medicine at Cambridge University, to living in Soho in the swinging sixties and campaigning for the legalisation of cannabis with The Beatles, through to the story of how he became the Roll N Roll Doctor which eventually led to his career as alternative country music star Hank Wangford. Enjoy this amazing episode with a true rock n roll character.Follow Matt Stocks on Facebook / Twitter / Instagram: @mattstocksdjCheck out the Life In The Stocks Patreon page, support this podcast, and get all kinds of extras in return, from bonus podcasts & DJ mixes to archive print interviews & radio shows.www.patreon.com/lifeinthestocksMatt's first book, 'Life In The Stocks: Veracious Conversations with Musicians & Creatives (Vol. 01)' is also out NOW and is available via Amazon, Waterstones & Rare Bird Publishing.https://rarebirdlit.com/life-in-the-stocks-veracious-conversations-with-musicians-creatives/ Hosted on Acast. #053 Benji Webbe (Skindred)
Matt's longtime friend Benji Webbe is this week's guest on Life In The Stocks. The Skindred frontman recalls the night his band headlined Brixton Academy the night after the Bataclan incident in Paris and shares his thoughts on the debate that raged around Eagles Of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes in the wake of that attack. #051 Joe Cardamone (The Icarus Line/Solo)
This week's guest on Life In The Stocks is solo artist & performer Joe Cardamone, formerly of The Icarus Line. The topic of death comes up a lot, from the death of David Bowie and the effect that his passing had on the musical community to the passing of Scott Weiland (Joe was actually on the tour that Weiland died on) and the tragic death of Joe's longtime friend & collaborator Alvin DeGuzman, which was still fresh on Joe's mind at this point. It's heavy duty stuff, but also very inspiring. Thank you to Joe for sharing his story.Follow Matt Stocks on Facebook / Twitter / Instagram: @mattstocksdjCheck out the Life In The Stocks Patreon page, support this podcast, and get all kinds of extras in return, from bonus podcasts & DJ mixes to archive print interviews & radio shows.www.patreon.com/lifeinthestocksMatt's first book, 'Life In The Stocks: Veracious Conversations with Musicians & Creatives (Vol. 01)' is also out NOW and is available via Amazon, Waterstones & Rare Bird Publishing.https://rarebirdlit.com/life-in-the-stocks-veracious-conversations-with-musicians-creatives/ Hosted on Acast.
