Filmmaker and music video director Jonas Åkerlund joins me today for Episode 209 of Life In The Stocks to discuss some of the music videos he's made for the likes of Metallica, Rammstein, Madonna & Christina Aguilera, and the feature films he's directed, including Spun, Small Apartments & Lords of Chaos. I've wanted to get Jonas on the podcast for ages, so it was great to finally make it happen, and it was well worth the wait.Life In The Stocks is sponsored by Radical Clothing. #208 TV Smith (The Adverts/Solo)

Punk legend TV Smith joins me for Episode 208 of Life In The Stocks. This is an incredibly exciting guest for me, as The Adverts are on of my all-time favourite punk bands and TV Smith is one of my all-time favourite songwriters. The first two Adverts albums, and his debut solo album, Channel Five, have been key records throughout my life. His new album Lockdown Holiday is also great - it addresses not only the global pandemic that we're still in, but also the state of humanity and where we find ourselves in 2021. I really hope you enjoy this conversation one of the all-time great British songwriters.Life In The Stocks is sponsored by Radical Clothing. #207 Paul Smith (Maximo Park)

Paul Smith from Maximo Park joins me for Episode 207 of Life In The Stocks, and I have to say, it's one of the most engaging conversations I've ever had. We also throw in a bit of music talk for good measure. Check out the new Maximo Park record, Nature Always Wins, which is out now.Life In The Stocks is sponsored by Radical Clothing. #202 Eric Melvin (NOFX)

We're kicking off Series Three of Life In The Stocks with a NOFX double bill. And what better way to initiate the next round of 100 episodes than with not one but TWO podcasts with the guys in my all-time favourite band. Last week, I finally welcomed Fat Mike on to the show, and it fast became my most downloaded episode to date. The response was incredible. And if you think that conversation with Fat Mike went deep, wait until you hear this week's podcast with Eric Melvin. What a beautiful soul.We had such a lovely talk, taking in the pandemic, how it's affected NOFX, life coaching, listening to and connecting with people, PMA, drugs and alcohol, what's been happening with Mike, getting him in to rehab, how that's impacted the band, the role of Smelly and El Hefe in NOFX, the book, fatherhood, his new electronic project, and so much more. This episode really is a great example of what this podcast is all about: deep philosophical discussions with interesting artists and grade A humans. I really hope you enjoy it and take something positive away from it.Be sure to check out the new album by NOFX as well. It's called 'Single Album' and it's out NOW. It's amazing!Follow Matt Stocks on Facebook / Twitter / Instagram: @mattstocksdjCheck out the Life In The Stocks Patreon page, support this podcast, and get all kinds of extras in return, from bonus podcasts & DJ mixes to archive print interviews & radio shows.www.patreon.com/lifeinthestocksMatt's first book, 'Life In The Stocks: Veracious Conversations with Musicians & Creatives (Vol. 01)' is also out NOW and is available via Amazon, Waterstones, Blackwell's & Rare Bird Publishing.https://rarebirdlit.com/life-in-the-stocks-veracious-conversations-with-musicians-creatives/ Hosted on Acast. #201 Fat Mike (NOFX)

This conversation has been a LONG time in the making. If you know me at all, or you've been following me online or listening to this podcast for a while, then you'll know that NOFX are my favourite band of all-time. I'm not saying they're the best, but they are my personal favourite. They've had such a big impact in my life. I even talk about it in my new book, which is out NOW! ;)The new album by NOFX, entitled Single Album, is also out NOW. And it's their most personal, self reflective, introspective record to date. You might not think that's your bag - you may prefer the upbeat, jovial, political NOFX - but truth be told, no one in the punk scene does sad, dark, confessional compositions quite like Fat Mike. This album is awesome. And because it is a little on the sombre side, this conversation is a little earnest, and perhaps not what you would expect from Fat Mike. But that's exactly why I like it.I'm obviously going to be biased, but I think this is one of the most open, honest & vulnerable interviews Fat Mike has ever done. And as a lifelong uber fan of the band, it was a dream come true to have him on the show. I wish we could've talked for even longer than we did. But we covered a lot of ground in the time that we did have together. I hope you enjoy listening to it half as much as I enjoyed recording it.Be sure to tune in next week too, as I'll be joined by Mike's best friend and bandmate, Eric Melvin of NOFX.Follow Matt Stocks on Facebook / Twitter / Instagram: @mattstocksdjCheck out the Life In The Stocks Patreon page, support this podcast, and get all kinds of extras in return, from bonus podcasts & DJ mixes to archive print interviews & radio shows.www.patreon.com/lifeinthestocksMatt's first book, 'Life In The Stocks: Veracious Conversations with Musicians & Creatives (Vol. 01)' is also out NOW and is available via Amazon, Waterstones, Blackwell's & Rare Bird Publishing.https://rarebirdlit.com/life-in-the-stocks-veracious-conversations-with-musicians-creatives/ Hosted on Acast.
