Episode 134: How We Plan to Restore & Renew
We didn't expect this episode to take such an emotional turn. In Episode 133, we discuss the customs and celebrations associated with the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. In this episode, we dig deeper into the meaning behind the holiday - concepts of gathering, thanksgiving, prayer, and the symbolism of the moon. We spend some time personally reflecting on how we each plan to practice these concepts in the coming year. Join us in this conversation and let us know how you plan to practice these concepts too! This episode was edited by Michelle Hsieh.___P A R T N E R S mentioned in this episode:- Peloton: Get free classes for 30 days for new members at onepeloton.com/app- Sakara: Get 20% off your first order with code ABG at sakara.com/abg- Ana Luisa: Get 10% off with code asianbossgirl at shop.analuisa.com/asianbossgirl- Osea: Get 10% off with code ABG at oseamalibu.com- Vessi: Get $25 off with code ASIANBOSSGIRL at vessi.com/asianbossgirl- Pill Club: Give $10 donation to bedsider.org for your purchase at thepillclub.com/abgS H O U T OU T !- Give a shoutout on the podcast here.S U B S C R I B E T O U S !- @asianbossgirl on Apple Podcasts / Spotify / YouTube / Instagram / Twitter / Facebook- More about us at asianbossgirl.comE – M A I L U S !- hello@asianbossgirl.comS U P P O R T U S !- merch: asianbossgirl.myshopify.com- donation: anchor.fm/asianbossgirl/support Learn more about your ad choices. Episode 133: Chang'e, Mooncakes & Lots of Family Time // Celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is the second-most important holiday after Chinese New Year, dating back 3,000 years when China’s emperor worshipped the moon for bountiful harvests. On this day, it is believed that the moon is at its brightest and fullest size. As we get older, we have grown a genuine interest in these traditions that we used to not think twice about, or even find to be a nuisance. And as we think about the nature of these traditions and celebrations, we start to dig deeper into the root of why we celebrate them and what the deeper meaning or purpose is, especially as we begin to build our own families and think about how we want to celebrate with our children. This year, the Mid-Autumn Festival falls on September 21st. Tune in to how we individually celebrated this festival with our family, and how we plan to celebrate this holiday going forward. How do you plan to celebrate this year? Episode 129: For the 90s Kid in All of Us
Mel, Janet, and Helen are 90s kids, two of us being 80s babies. And this past year or so, we’ve been seeing a very quick rise of 90s comeback fashion, especially amongst those who were born in the 2000s. It’s been a bit strange to see flares, bell bottoms, spaghetti straps, fanny packs, and bucket hats make a comeback, but we thought it’d be fun to have an episode where we reminisce about the actual 90s and early 2000s trends that we lived through and grew up with! Because who knows? Maybe some of the stuff we talk about in this episode will actually be coming back in the next year or so! If you were a child of the 90s/early 2000s (and even if you weren't), what was your favorite trend? This episode was edited by Michelle Hsieh.___P A R T N E R S mentioned in this episode:- Girlfriend Collective: Get $25 off $100 or more at girlfriend.com/ABG- Issuu: Get your FREE account or 50% off your premium account with code ABG at issuu.com/podcast- Ritual Vitamin: Get 10% off your first 3 months at ritual.com/ABG- Boll & Branch: Get 15% of your first set of sheets with code abg at bollandbranch.com- Blueland: Get 15% off your first order at blueland.com/ABG- Betabrand: Get 30% off your order at betabrand.com/ABGS H O U T O U T !- Give a shoutout on the podcast here.S U B S C R I B E T O U S !- @asianbossgirl on Apple Podcasts / Spotify / YouTube / Instagram / Twitter / Facebook- More about us at asianbossgirl.comE – M A I L U S !- hello@asianbossgirl.comS U P P O R T U S !- merch: asianbossgirl.myshopify.com- donation: anchor.fm/asianbossgirl/support Learn more about your ad choices. Episode 128: From Shared Rooms to Homeowning - The Places We’ve Called Home
So a topic that comes up quite frequently in our post-college 20s and 30s, when we’re freshly moved out of our parent's homes, is about the roof over our heads!! Where do you live?? Are you renting? Are you thinking about buying? What are you looking for in a house? What does your dream house look like? These are questions we’ve had to think about ever since entering our ‘adult years’.We are all in pretty different places in our lives, with Janet owning her first condo & having lived here for 4 years, Mel having just upgraded to an apartment with her own room + bathroom (she shared a bathroom for the last 3 years), and Helen just becoming a new homeowner!Listen as we retrace the different places we called home! This episode was edited by Michelle Hsieh.___P A R T N E R S mentioned in this episode:- AcornTV: Try 30 days for free with code ABG at acorn.tv - Peloton: Try 30 days for free classes at onepeloton.com - Glamnetic: Get 30% off the first order at glamnetic.com/abg - Sakara: Get 20% off your first order at Sakara.com/ABG or enter code ABG at checkout- ABC Bachelor in Paradise: Premieres Monday at 8/7 central on ABG- Zoc Doc: Sign up for the app for free at zocdoc.com/abg S H O U T O U T !- Give a shoutout on the podcast here.S U B S C R I B E T O U S !- @asianbossgirl on Apple Podcasts / Spotify / YouTube / Instagram / Twitter / Facebook- More about us at asianbossgirl.comE – M A I L U S !- hello@asianbossgirl.comS U P P O R T U S !- merch: asianbossgirl.myshopify.com- donation: anchor.fm/asianbossgirl/support Learn more about your ad choices. Episode 127: Waxed, Vaxxed and Totally Awkward
Summer is usually a time when we all get outdoors, gather with friends and family, and generally interact with a lot of people. However, this summer season is a unique one - as we are on “what we hope to be” the tail end of a global pandemic. By now, we hope you all are vaccinated or are on your way to getting vaccinated. I know it may feel as if COVID is no longer a big issue, but variants of COVID are developing and starting to pose a large threat, and the longer we delay getting more people vaccinated, the longer it will take for all of this to pass. Thanks to the U.S Department of Health and Human Services for making this episode happen.
