Gilbert Arenas

Another week, another killer guest on Knuckleheads with Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles. This time, “Agent Zero” Gilbert Arenas joins the show, and he gets into everything, including the time he busted up the Clippers when both Q and D were on the team. He also talks about going almost completely unnoticed in high school, and how fun it was to torch highly touted recruits. Arenas also lets us know that he was the first NBA player from the San Fernando Valley and explains why he got overlooked during the NBA draft — as well as how pissed he felt when he saw his name dropping down the board. He reminds Q and D that he was one of the O.G.’s of the jersey-swapping fad currently sweeping across all sports. And he tells just how hard it was to get KG’s jersey. He then dishes on hoops — about spying on Kobe to see if he actually practiced at three in the morning, and speculating on whether his own long-range shooting would work in today’s NBA. Arenas also discusses where he got his unabashed confidence from, and why Larry Hughes had such a huge effect on his career. And you definitely won’t want to miss when he opens up about the $2 million birthday party he threw for himself to get a better contract from Adidas. Gilbert Arenas holds nothing back, and is sure to make you laugh. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jerry Ferrara

Quentin and Darius take on our first non-athlete guest as Jerry Ferrara joins the show. Spoiler Alert: “Proctor” talks Power and his character’s recent death on the show. He explains what it’s like to die in a shootout scene and what his reaction was to being told that Proctor would be killed that episode. The fellas talk all things Entourage, too, as “Turtle” explains how Mark Wahlberg coached him through an audition, as well as who his favorite cameo on the show was. The focus returns to Power and the guys ask Jerry what it’s like to work with 50 Cent, and if he gets more recognized as Turtle or Proctor when he walks the streets. Then it’s onto New York, New York, as Jerry touches on his diehard Knick fandom. He talks about which championship rings he would trade in to get just one Knick ring and fanboys about the ’90s Knicks teams. Also, Jerry has a tough time playing Start, Cut, Bench with three of the greatest Knicks ever to step on the court. The hoop talk continues as Jerry gives his thoughts on the state of the league and just who the best New York-raised ball player is. The gang moves on to shoe talk, discussing some of the most iconic kicks of all time, including their personal favorites. Later, Jerry speaks about the time he was most start-struck on set and talks some smack when asked what other actors he would add to a 3-on-3 team with him.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Ron Artest

It’s Tuesday and you know what that means: Knuckleheads back for Episode 2. Ron Artest — aka “Ron Ron,” aka “Metta World Peace” — joins the fellas to talk about everything from growing up in Queens, to playing on one of the greatest AAU teams ever, to winning an NBA championship. Ron keeps it real about growing up in the hood and explains why he is a true New Yorker at heart. He also discusses his two years at St. John’s before talking with Darius about what could have been if Darius hadn’t skipped college and instead played for the Red Storm. Artest then divulges how upset he became after he accidentally broke Michael Jordan’s ribs the first time the two met. Funny enough, the same week he met MJ in summer league, Artest also knocked down a 14-year-old LeBron James when he drove in the paint. The three then reminisce about Artest’s time with the Pacers, and why he thinks the Indiana team he was on with Reggie Miller and Jermaine O’Neal was the best he ever played for — and why he feels responsible for not getting Reggie a title. Artest then talks about going from small-market teams to big-market teams and why he felt so mentally clear once he got to the Lakers. He then talks about winning the championship in 2010, and explains the feelings he had getting on the podium. The show wraps up with the three men talking about New York, and Ron shares his thoughts on the Melo situation. Ron Artest, one of the toughest defenders to ever do it, is the focus of another can’t-miss episode.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Kobe Bryant

Season 2 is finally here! Knuckleheads with Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles returns in a huge way, with Kobe Bryant, aka “the Mamba,” joining the fellas. The three get right down to business, with Kobe talking about being the first guard to jump to the NBA straight out of high school, as well as about draft night -- specifically how the Hornets pissed him off before trading him to the Lakers. He then describes what it was like to be a teenager in a “grown man’s” league and how, in the long run, that was crucial to his success. The guys then ask him about his first All-Star Game, when he went up against MJ, and when Western Conference coach George Karl benched him for the entire fourth quarter. Kobe would go on to use Karl’s snub for years as a motivator whenever L.A. faced the Nuggets in the playoffs. “The Black Bruce Wayne” also explains how he developed his arsenal of basketball weapons, and how he matured into “the baddest man on the planet.” Kobe then discusses why he switched from wearing number 8 to number 24 — and why it was so important to him. And remember the time Kobe had 61 at the Garden? Well, it didn’t just happen. He says there was a reason he needed to go off like that, and divulges how that performance was crucial to the Lakers’ success the rest of that season. He then talks about teaching his daughter the game, and how cool it has been for him to coach her team. Finally, Kobe touches on battling through injuries and gives advice to anyone going through physical rehab. You won’t hear a more unfiltered version of Kobe anywhere! Season 2. Cappie Pondexter

Bonus episode! Cappie Pondexter — the “first lady” of Knuckleheads with Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles — joins the show. She and the boys begin by discussing her rise in Chicago basketball, and how the city inspired the way she played. Cappie also talks about getting her killer instinct from playing with (and tuning up) the boys. She then explains her decision to attend Rutgers, and the positive impact that that move had on her entire career. Following that, Cappie discusses the WNBA draft, playing with Diana Taurasi, and what it was like to win a championship so early in her career. Darius crowns Cappie and Diana “the Shaq and Kobe of the WNBA.” Talk then shifts to the current state of the women’s league, and what Cappie thinks that the WNBA can do better to keep women’s basketball moving in the right direction. She follows that by talking about playing overseas, her all-time favorite place to play, and why the game of basketball has inspired her to travel all over the world. This leads to a discussion about the importance of broadening horizons, and Cappie explains her involvement in the fashion industry, as well as her love for art. She and the boys then move on to their nostalgia for Chicago basketball, and the identities of some of the city’s best — and least-known — players. She then ranks her top five WNBA players of all time, and finishes by debating the hosts about MJ, Kobe and LeBron. Cappie is a Chicago queen, and you won’t want to miss this great episode.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Udonis Haslem

Udonis Haslem brings the guys into his Miami mancave to talk about U.D. being one of the “mayors” of Miami, and about what it was like to grow up there. Udonis also reminisces about his successful career at Miami Senior High, and he debates with Q about whose high school team was better. The three then discuss college, and why U.D. chose to go to Florida instead of Miami. That conversation then shifts to U.D.’s experiences when he had to play one season in France because no NBA teams wanted to sign him. He lost 50 pounds while he was in Europe, and when he returned to Miami people were impressed with both his hustle and his new physique. That led to a contract with the Heat — and the rest is history. D and Q then ask Udonis about his best Pat Riley stories, including the time he tried to get in between Riley and Shaq when the two men were arguing. The three also talk about D-Wade, and U.D. explains how he and D-Wade became close friends over the years, and why Wade was the reason he stayed in Miami to play with the Big 3. He also gives his opinion on D-Wade’s “one last dance” haircut. Udonis Haslem is as intense as he is humble. He represents the best of what Miami has to offer and his stories will give you an even better appreciation for the 305.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Wilson Chandler

Clippers forward Wilson Chandler joins the show in this week’s episode of Knuckleheads with Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles. They begin by touching on Wilson’s unusual route to the first round of the 2007 NBA draft, and how frustrations in school influenced his decisions. As a rookie he was teammates with Q on a Knicks team that had a crazy dynamic. Wilson also explains his decision to go vegan for a few years, and explains how his diet helped his body heal. He talks about the struggle of going through rehab for a few of his major injuries, and how the process was so boring that it actually pushed him into becoming an avid reader. The three then discuss coming to the NBA out of the hood, and how it’s hard — but also important — to broaden your horizons. Finally, Wilson tells a story about the time he went bungee jumping, and how he was worried that he had hurt himself after having just recovered from an injury. Before his appearance on Knuckleheads, Wilson Chandler had never before been on a podcast.
