Sinh tại Bắc Ninh năm 1940, di cư năm 1954, sang Pháp du học sau khi đỗ tú tài năm 1958. Tốt nghiệp cao học toán và giảng dạy toán học tại trường Đại học Paris 7 (Denis Diderot) từ 1963 đên 2005 ; thỉnh giảng Trường cao đẳng phiên dịch (ESIT, Paris).   Hoạt động hội đoàn : Hội viên sáng lập hội Liên hiệp sinh viên Việt Nam tại Pháp (1965), Liên hiệp Việt kiều tạị Pháp (1969), Hội người Việt Nam tại Pháp (1976). Làm phiên dịch cho phái đoàn Việt Nam Dân Chủ Cộng Hòa tại Hội nghị Paris (1968-73). Làm báo : Đoàn Kết, ¬ tạp chí tiếng Pháp Vietnam, Diễn Đàn (từ 1991 đến nay), tạp chí Thời đại mới. Dịch Pháp-Việt tại những hội nghị quốc tế. Dịch sang tiếng Pháp một số tác phẩm văn học Việt Nam, dịch sang tiếng Việt cuốn Lịch sử Thế kỷ 20 của Eric J. Hobsbawm. Nguyễn Hữu Cát Thư là người quản lý sản phẩm và kỹ sư phần mềm đang sống ở San Francisco. Thư tốt nghiệp MIT ngành kỹ sư cơ khí, làm việc nhiều năm tại phòng nghiên cứu hạt nhân ở MIT, và sau đó làm việc ở TPHCM một vài năm và nhận được giải 30 Under 30 của Forbes Vietnam vào khoá đầu tiên. Ham premiered his first feature film JOURNEY FROM THE FALL at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival (2006). Ham’s films in Vietnam include HOW TO FIGHT IN SIX INCH HEELS (2012), HOLLOW (2014), BITCOIN HEIST (2016), and SHE’S THE BOSS (2016). He is currently in post-production on MAIKA, a reimagining of the cult children's TV series slated for a Christmas 2020 release. Ham received his MFA in Directing from the UCLA School of Film and Television.
