DOES YOUR PARISH say "Yes, And"? | Fr. Edwin Leonard, Pastor of St. Ann Parish | Episode #023
The BeatiDudes welcome one of their favorite priests, Fr. Edwin Leonard, Pastor of St Ann Parish in Coppell, where the Dudes are parishioners with their families. Fr. Edwin shares the spirit-led way in which St. Ann Parish encourages participation and receives each person with abundant hospitality. While describing St. Ann’s openness to new ideas, it becomes clear to the Dudes that St. Ann follows the first rule of improv – “Yes, and” – as that is part of their unique approach to ministry. During Blessed are the Joke Makers, with 72 points of the line, the Dudes must address the question, “What is talked about at the pub,” as a new parent.Fr. Edwin shares exciting updates about St. Ann Parish, including the new missionary institute, the addition of 2 new priests, and a church renovation to bring the tabernacle into the main sanctuary of the parish. He then reflects on the beauty of all types of worship, from the most traditional to the most charismatic. Then during the TBD Question of the Day, the Dudes and Fr. Edwin reflect on a fight-or-flight moment from each of their lives. And you won’t want to miss the most amazing reverse Simpsons ending, during which Fr. The second half of the show explores Dr. Sanford’s education and career journey. We learn more about the mentors, saints, and materials that formed Dr. Sanford’s love for philosophy and teaching. Dr. Sanford penned several books along the way and then received a call to join the University of Dallas and grew to quickly love the University in a special way. This episode’s TBD Question (The BeatiDudes Question) asks which educator(s) left a big impression on your life. And finally, the Dudes finish with a fun Reverse Simpsons called “Just Ask JJ” during which Dr. Sanford has to answer three questions and attempt to get the same answer that his wife gave before the show. My WHY Comes From My Aborted Child, Jesse | Heroic Media President, Brett Attebery | Episode #018
Brett Attebery is back for a BeatiDudes bonus episode. The Dudes start off the show by reflecting on hot yoga, thanks to the extreme after-hours heat in their studio. Then Paul is surprised with a set of BeatiDudes luggage tags that may become future swag for fans. The tone shifts as Brett shares his personal pro-life journey starting with the history he had before finding faith (an admitted ethical pagan) and the mystical experience he had at 38 years old. After that, Brett found his way into the Catholic Church through RCIA, and years later, he realized it was time to deal with the abortion he supported when his girlfriend got pregnant decades earlier. Brett had heard an ad for a Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat on Catholic radio and called to see if men were allowed at these port-abortion healing events. At the event, he had everything planned as to what he would say, but then the Holy Spirit took over, and Brett’s life changed forever. In adoration later that day, Brett felt called to name his unborn child - - Jesse. Brett left that retreat a changed man. He went on to start the first pro-life magazine, and in his first issue, he wrote about an organization called Heroic Media. It wasn’t long before Brett was asked to join Heroic Media to run marketing and to keep the magazine going as well. Today Brett is the CEO of Heroic Media and the author of Your Pro-Life Bottom Line. He often reflects on how God works in our brokenness to make something more beautiful than it was before, and his story is certainly an example of this grace. Our Partners:Solidarity HealthShareSock Religious (10% Discount)Decided ExcellenceSpoke Street MediaDivine ComedyUndivided LifeFollow Brett and Heroic Media:Brett Attebery's WebsiteHeroic MediaThrive Express Women's HealthcareBook: Your Pro-Life Bottom LineFollow The BeatiDudes:BeatiDudes WebsiteLinkedInFacebookInstagramTwitterJeff Schiefelbein on LinkedInBeatiDudes Theme Song and Music ByThe Pencil Bureau

A FRESH APPROACH to Prolife Branding | with Brett Attebery | Episode #017
Brett Attebery, national pro-life leader, joins the BeatiDudes for an incredible conversation on the need to infuse business principles and practices into the pro-life movement. Brett is the CEO of Heroic Media and the author of Your Pro-Life Bottom Line. The show starts with a reflection on the word Dude, including Jeff’s appearance in a full suit to drive home the lesson and highlight the roots of our “dudeness.” Unfortunately for Jeff, the studio turned off the air conditioning on the day he decided to make this point. Brett and the Dudes reflect on the makings of a BeatiDude and share their views on how authentic fraternity is fostered among men. Brett’s organization, Heroic Media, provides pro-life advertising to help frontline pro-life pregnancy centers to redirect women away from abortion facilities. A few years ago, Brett and his team discovered Thrive Express Women’s Healthcare, a center in St. Louis that uses a comprehensive brand marketing approach to reach women before they are in a moment of need. Their unique approach has led to impressive results as well. Brett also shares an updated approach to the vernacular of the pro-life movement that helps to highlight women’s empowerment in addition to the focus on their pre-born babies. During this week’s “Blessed are the Joke Makers,” the dudes take on the persona of an A.I. robot to complete the sentence, “Jesus performed the miracle of _____, but it was never recorded.” Brett joins the Dudes to address the TBD (The BeatiDudes) Question of the Day: Who do you go to for spiritual mentorship that is not a priest or religious? And the show concludes with another great Reverse Simpsons, a surprise Brett-Day Celebration Party with a $5 limit on the gifts. And unlike a regular party, Brett was asked to judge each of the offerings out loud as the party ended. Our Partners:Solidarity HealthSharejoinsolidarity.com Sock Religious (10% Discount)Decided ExcellenceSpoke Street MediaDivine ComedyUndivided LifeFollow Brett and Heroic Media:Brett Attebery's WebsiteHeroic MediaThrive Express Women's HealthcareBook: Your Pro-Life Bottom LineFollow The BeatiDudes:BeatiDudes WebsiteLinkedInFacebookInstagramTwitterJeff Schiefelbein on LinkedInBeatiDudes Theme Song and Music ByThe Pencil Bureau

Deep FORGIVENESS Prayer | Fr. Ken Geraci, Fathers of Mercy | Episode #014
Fr. Ken Geraci lived the life of the prodigal son for most of his young adult life. Raised in a nominally Catholic family, who only lived the externals of the faith, Fr. Ken left the Catholic Church for many years. During that time, he earned a business degree and worked as a business professional in Advanced R&D and software testing. During this journey, God presented him with challenges that forced him to question his personal beliefs and the question, “What is Truth?” Through a series of conversions, years of struggle, study, and questioning, Fr. Ken found his way from agnosticism to non-denominational Christianity, and ultimately back to the Catholic Church. Fr. Ken joined the Fathers of Mercy in 2006 and was ordained in 2012. Fr. Ken has a great understanding of the personal and societal pressures that individuals face and knows what it is like to “hate coming to church.” His mission talks are for people of all levels of faith, from those who are madly in love with Jesus to those who struggle with church and religion. In this episode, the BeatiDudes joke with Fr. Ken about the first time he considered the priesthood after it was suggested to him by his date. The show continues with a very powerful and emotional journey through forgiveness prayer as the foundation of healing. You are encouraged to join the BeatiDudes in this process by not just listening to the message but by fully participating in the prayer.
