According to educator and author Nancy Bailey, “It’s hard to find Science of Readingenthusiasts emphasizing the importance of picture books. Picture books no longer appear to be a priority in early classes.” Lindsay Kemeny, a first-grade SoR teacher and proponent of evidence-based practices, strongly disagrees with statements made in this blog.
