The Curve
The Curve Platform
The Curve is a platform to learn more about money. To change the stereotype that these conversations are typically boring, and only for men in suits. Victoria has worked in the finance and investing world for 13 years, and Sophie is a total novice. Learn alongside her as she asks all the questions you're thinking, but might feel a little embarrassed to ask. This podcast will give you all the tools and knowledge to achieve financial freedom, as well as (hopefully) having a laugh along the way.

TCW50: Broken planes, bee stings and big old K-holes.
No matter how hard you try to ease into the new year, sometimes things just don’t go your way. Soph went to a silent retreat and got hit by a flying log, Vic went on a sexy hike and got a nasty bee sting, and Boeing sent a plane across the skies … and lost part of it mid-flight. We talk about the effect this could have on their share price, investor confidence and their reputation as a whole. We also look at a recent billion-dollar dating app investment, the latest way to buy Bitcoin, and Elon Musk’s naughty after-hours activities (and what it could mean for his CEO status). 15 days in, and 2024 is already giving serious drama. RTC97: Getting out of 100,000 worth of debt with Liz Gillette.
In today’s episode, we’re talking to the incredible Liz Gillette – a bad-ass financial advisor who, in her teenage and young adult years, experienced more than her fair share of money troubles. From watching her family home get repossessed to walking out of college with a monumental debt to pay, Liz’s financial journey has not been an easy one. We sat down with Liz to talk about the slippery slope of debt, the importance of communication, leaving judgement at the door and respecting your partner’s choices (even if it’s golf). Heart-breaking, inspiring and unflinchingly honest, this is a must-listen for everyone out there. Watch interview on YouTube. RTC96: The delicious (and inspiring) life of Condiment Claire.
It’s not always easy to back yourself – to throw yourself into the unknown – but today’s guest is living proof of what can happen when you stand up, take a chance and lean into uncertainty. Claire Dinhut (aka Condiment Claire) is an absolute powerhouse. She’s been to Harvard, travelled the world presenting food shows, gone viral on TikTok during lockdown and somehow still finds time to make her own butter. We talk to Claire about her career ups and downs, her self-taught investing strategies and her incredible ability to take a chance on herself. Watch interview on YouTube. RTC93: Microsoft – good investment or amazing deep fake?
In today’s episode, Vic goes head-to-head with Alison George, our very clever and succinct friend at Australian Ethical. If you’ve listened to this podcast before, you’ll no doubt be aware of Vic’s undying love for Microsoft in all its nerdy-tech glory … so naturally, we’ve put her on the ‘against’ side of today’s ethical investment debate. This week, we’re rolling out a slightly different format. With 2023 nearly behind us, we’re wrapping up the year that’s been and all the lessons it has given us. From learning to live with significantly less to taking your own advice, from the importance of a healthy emergency fund to the heartbreaking realities of the ADHD tax – we’re here to reflect and share (and we’re actually quite vulnerable). Big feelings, big lessons and big gratitude for your support along the way. Watch the episode on YouTube. TCW47: Big shorts, big bounce-backs and big red flags.
Ahhh, December. The trees are up, the carols are cranking, and things are looking rather bright and merry in the world of finance – unless, of course, you’re Michael Burry (the man behind The Big Short – it has Ryan Gosling in it, you’ve probably seen it). Today, we’re talking big risks, big bets and the danger of betting on failure. On a more positive note, the S&P500 is up, Uber’s finally in the big-dog club, Facebook is flying, Zuckerberg’s selling, TikTok is absolutely massive and Vic’s hit travel gold (for only 35 measly little Euros). ‘Tis the season, people.
