This day is outlined in the Old Testament, specifically in Leviticus Chapter 16. It s the most sacred day in the Jewish calendar and holds deep spiritual and historical significance.The Purpose of YThe Day of Atonement:A Day of Atonement: Yom Kippur is the day when the High Priest of Israel made atonement for the sins of the people. It was a day of seeking forgiveness for the sins of the entire community. The word "atonement" means reconciliation or making amends for wrongdoings.Preparation and Cleansing: The Day of Atonement served as a cleansing and purification process. The High Priest had to prepare himself meticulously by washing, changing into simple white garments, and conducting various rituals to purify himself before he could perform the atonement for the people.Comprehensive Forgiveness: Yom Kippur was a day to atone for all sins, even those committed unknowingly.
