5 Novel Treatments for PCOS
PCOS stands for polycystic ovary syndrome. Many people interpret it to mean you have big cysts on your ovaries, but that's not true at all. When I hear PCOS I think of it as a call to, &ldquoPlease Confirm this Ovary Syndrome”. So much is misunderstood about PCOS! Women are often told, “oh you don’t need to worry about it until you’re ready to have babies.” That could not be further from the truth. Today on the podcast, I'm talking about 5 novel treatments for PCOS. Read the full show notes on Dr. Aimee's website. When is it Time to See a Fertility Expert?
If you’re eager to get pregnant and are wondering if it’s time to see a fertility specialist, you might be right. There are a number of factors to take into account when deciding whether it’s time to see a fertility specialist. Of course there are a lot more details about each of these items in the podcast episode today, but here is a sneak peek of the 6 reason that may be telling you it’s time to see a fertility expert: 1. If you’re over 35: schedule an appointment if you’ve been trying for 6 months. 2. If you’re over 37: consider seeing a fertility specialist (and not wait before seeking professional advice) to get your TUSHY checked. 3. If you have irregular cycles, make an appointment to see what may be causing that irregularity.. 4. Painful periods. If you think your periods are more painful than average, or you are worried about the pain you’re experiencing, you may suffer from endometriosis, which can make it more difficult to get pregnant. A fertility expert can help with a diagnosis and treatment.. 5. Heavy bleeding. If your periods seem especially heavy, this may be a sign that there is something blocking your ability to get pregnant. 6. Male factor or sperm issues. It takes an egg and a sperm to make a baby so if your male partner or sperm donor has a chronic medical problems, is drinking, smoking or partaking in drugs, or is overweight, a fertility specialist can help determine if that is playing a role. DOR Decreased NOT Depleted Ovarian Reserve
There are a lot misunderstandings around what the term DOR means. Often times when people first hear about DOR, they believe that that the "D" of DOR means "depleted" ovarian reserve. This is not true! To set the record straight, DOR means "decreased" ovarian reserve. The other thing that happens when the word "decreased" gets mixed up for "depleted," is that many people next assume that getting a DOR diagnosis means that they will need to use donor eggs in order to get pregnant. This is also not true! With DOR, you still have eggs, you just don't have as many eggs as you once did. In this episode, I'll be sharing more about DOR. At some point, every one with a uterus will go through it. I'll talk about when egg reserves tend to decline, what tests you can take to determine your egg reserve levels, what you can do to keep your eggs healthy, and when you might consider using donor eggs. What to do When Your Frozen Embryo Transfer Fails with Dr. Meivys Garcia
Dr. Meivys Garcia is joining me on the podcast today! She is an amazing Canadian fertility doctor, and she's guiding us through her approach to fertility care when a frozen embryo transfer doesn’t work. She will describe every step, one at a time. We will also get personal. Knowing the heartbreak of having failed embryo transfers during her own fertility journey, Dr. Garcia knows all too well what it is like to be a fertility patient. She’s going to share her journey and share her wisdom based on her experience as a patient and as a fertility expert. I’m going to be honest and open about this; one of the hardest parts of walking the fertility journey with patients is when we have loss. Whether that be the loss of a pregnancy or the loss of a frozen embryo, it’s heart wrenching for me, and for the patient. Today’s podcast episode will be about holding space for loss, and how to move on when you’ve had difficult news. It’s about what you can learn from the unfortunate events. It’s also about the hope and courage it takes to be a fertility patient, and the admiration that Dr. Garcia and I have for every patient we’ve worked with. Tune in to this conversation on Dr. Aimee's website. Find Dr. Meivys Garcia by clicking here. Would you like to learn about IVF?Click here to join Dr. Aimee for The IVF Class. This interview was originally hosted by Sara Jensen of Hugh & Grace. We are diving into the Top 5 Fertility Trends I’ve seen over the past few years. We are also talking about the importance of being mindful of the products that you use and the role of toxins in our environment on infertility. I love that Sara is so dedicated to promoting holistic hormonal health and that she is as passionate about her mission at Hugh & Grace as I am about helping anyone who wants to bring more love into the world. You know that my goal is to empower people to understand their fertility diagnosis, explore treatment options, and help people avoid those heartbreaking moments where they say “I wish I would have known this sooner.” Together, Sara and I are on a mission to spread love and knowledge far and wide. Let's dive into the top five fertility trends that are shaping the landscape: 1. Openness & Sharing: More and more individuals are bravely sharing their fertility journeys with loved ones, fostering a supportive community of understanding and empathy. 2. Egg Freezing: Egg freezing isn't solely about finding the perfect partner anymore—it's about taking charge of your fertility journey, regardless of relationship status. 3. IVF Beyond Infertility: IVF is no longer reserved solely for those facing infertility; it's become a powerful tool for preserving fertility and empowering individuals and couples alike. 4. Delayed Parenthood: With life's milestones taking precedence, many are embarking on their parenthood journey later in life, prioritizing education, career, and financial stability. 5. Surrogacy Spotlight: Surrogacy is gaining traction, especially among women over 45 who are determined to expand their families. Sara's genuine passion for holistic wellness and her understanding of how the products we use every day can impact your fertility shines through in everything she does. I love that Hugh & Grace has created fertility friendly products for skin, health, and home. New Treatments for Recurrent Implantation Failure with guest Dr. Jenna Turocy
In this episode of The Egg Whisperer Show, Dr. Jenna Turocy is joining me to talk about new treatment options for recurrent implantation failure. Recurrent implantation failure (RIF) is determined when embryos of good quality fail to implant following several in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment cycles. The good news is that there is treatment for this, and Dr. Turocy has been researching it. The types of treatments that Dr. Jenna has studied include: 💙 intrauterine administration of peripheral blood mononuclear cells ahead of embryo transfer (which helps the uterus accept the embryo) 💙 intrauterine platelet rich plasma before embryo transfer (which helps the tissue of the uterus grow and rejuvenate) 💙 subcutaneous granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (which treats a thin endometrium) You all know that I love sharing the latest in technology, especially when it can help fertility patients get and stay pregnant. Thank you, Jenna, for joining me and sharing these novel treatments for RIF. Thank you for joining me, Jenna! Do you have questions about IVF? Everything You Need to Know Before Picking an Egg Donor
Whether you’re an egg donor now, if you’re considering it, or you know someone that is — I’m glad you’re here. Young women are donating eggs at the time they are most fertile, often times not realizing the implications of what that means. I’ve had patients come to me in their 40s without enough healthy eggs of their own to conceive. When they share with me that they themselves donated their young and healthy eggs in their 20s or 30s, but that none are available for them, I feel frustrated and sad for them. Frustrated enough that I’m doing something about it. Freeze & Share is a program that helps young egg donors save some eggs for themselves should they need them, while helping another family conceive when they can’t on their own. Suffice to say, I don’t want anyone to look back at their egg donation and wish they’d known more. Here is your chance — I want to give you all the information I have so that you’re equipped with the knowledge to make the best decision for your personal situation. Your First Trimester After IVF Now What
When you're pregnant after IVF, you’re likely beaming with joy while at the same time trying to keep negative, worrisome thoughts in check.
