This is the fourth and final track session that Lionshare did at the National Disciple Making Forum 2022. Dave Buehring along with Darren Bearson, Laurie Frey, and George Kehoe, showed us what it looks like to begin making disciples where we work.

In this episode Dave Buehring and Lauri Jarvis of Lionshare shared their experiences of discipling children beyond just the basics. Bible stories are important. They're an essential part of helping children understand the life of Jesus, the heroes of the faith, and who God is. But we have to further than that. A new Barna report finds that to truly prepare our children for faith-filled adulthood, we need to consider reframing "children's ministry" as something closer to "child discipleship."  

Dave Buehring of Lionshare  talked to us about feeling burned out while doing ministry that we think is what God wants us to do versus getting plugged into where God is already moving.

This episode features Dave Buehring and Grant Edwards of Lionshare giving a track session about discipling people into knowledge versus into obedience. The way the Western church has communicated spiritual truths has relied much more on what we are learning (the Greek model), than who we are learning from (the Hebrew model). Knowing Scripture is important but for life transformation to happen, we need revelation from the Holy Spirit and the will to obey.

You can more wisely steward your short-term missions to make a long-term impact with one addition: discipling indigenous women. Worldwide women believers do not know they are loved, valued, or have a divine purpose of enjoying God and exalting Him by making disciples. When you intentionally invest in local women—they are radically and fundamentally changed. They’ll risk their lives to spread the gospel to their families, communities, and closed spaces. That’s because women are "keepers of religion" in many cultures—yet few people invest in women. 

Susan Freese (founder and president of All In Ministries International) spoke about launching (or re-launching) thriving women's ministries. To encourage and equip women to fulfill their part in the body of Christ requires intentionality. Women's ministry in the local church is not meant to be superficial or siloed. With your support, women's ministry can be one of the most evangelistic, disciple-making drivers of the local church. That’s because in single-gender environments, women feel more comfortable asking questions, volunteering, and sharing their faith.
