About our drink:
Rabbit Hole Dareringer
Rabbit Hole Dareringer is aged in traditional American Oak barrels with an entry proof of 115. The aged bourbon is then moved to a Pedro Ximenz Sherry Cask for finishing. The mash bill on this particular expression is 68% corn, 18% wheat, and 14% malted barley. According to Rabbit Hole, Dareringer is a small batch release made up of no more than 15 barrels. This Straight Bourbon Whiskey is bottled at 93 proof, has no official age statement, and carries an MSRP of $80.
About our gear:
More of an action this week than a gear. Build up the Advent season by taking your children out caroling!
About the Topic:
Straight from the Catechism of the Council of Trent:
Three Things to be Avoided by Parents He should also admonish them to guard particularly against three things, in which they but too often transgress. In the first place, they are not by words or actions to exercise too much harshness towards their children. This is the instruction of St. Paul in his Epistle to the Colossians: “Fathers, he says, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. For there is danger that the spirit of the child may be broken, and he become abject and fearful of everything.” (Col. 3.21) Hence (the pastor) should 424 require parents to avoid too much severity and to choose rather to correct their children than to revenge themselves upon them. Should a fault be committed which requires reproof and chastisement, the parent should not, on the other hand, by undue indulgence, overlook its correction. Children are often spoiled by too much lenience and indulgence on the part of their parents. The pastor, therefore, should deter from such excessive mildness by the warning example of Heli, the high priest, who, on account of overindulgence to his sons, was visited with the heaviest chastisements. Finally, to avoid what is most shameful in the instruction and education of children, let them not propose to themselves aims that are unworthy. Many there are whose sole concern is to leave their children wealth, riches and an ample and splendid fortune; who encourage them not to piety and religion, or to honorable employment, but to avarice, and an increase of wealth, and who, provided their children are rich and wealthy, are regardless of their good name and eternal salvation. Can anything more shameful be thought or expressed? Of such parents it is true to say, that instead of bequeathing wealth to their children, they leave them rather their own wickedness and crimes for an inheritance; and instead of conducting them to Heaven, lead them to the eternal torments of Hell. The priest, therefore, should impress on the minds of parents salutary principles and should exhort them to imitate the virtuous example of Tobias, that having properly trained up their children to the service of God and to holiness of life, they may, in turn, experience at their hands abundant fruit of filial affection, respect and obedience.

About our drink:
Midnight Ritual
Fans of Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat Beer will be able to enjoy the iconic ale like never before: as a whiskey. The collaboration with Iowa-based Foundry Distilling Co. turns nascent Unfiltered Wheat into 89 proof Midnight Ritual, an American malt whiskey.
Prior to fermentation, Unfiltered Wheat traveled by tanker from Boulevard’s Kansas City brewery to historic Valley Junction in West Des Moines, Iowa, home of Foundry Distilling Company. After distillation in Foundry’s towering column still and a slumber of more than two years in new 30-gallon #3 charred oak barrels, Midnight Ritual entices with notes of caramel, banana bread, and allspice.

Officially launched on Oct. 7, 2018—the feast day of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary - the Alcuin Institute is an educational and cultural institute that oversees the formation of Catholic leaders and educators throughout the Diocese of Tulsa & Eastern Oklahoma.
The Alcuin Institute for Catholic Culture seeks to cultivate in the Diocese of Tulsa & Eastern Oklahoma forgotten, and often forbidden, realities—such as virtue, chivalry, valor, self-denial, a fondness for things of the past, and the real mirth found in friendship in order that truth, goodness, and beauty may prevail. In doing so we hope to become a bastion for authentic Catholic culture.

About our drink:
Ardbeg "BlaaacK"
Ardbeg Blaaack is the feisty Limited Edition bottled in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Ardbeg Committee, founded in the year 2000.
To mark such a momentous occasion, the Distillery vowed that the casks used to honour their global flock would be right on the nose. For the first time in Ardbeg’s history, they rounded up Pinot Noir casks from the country that lies the furthest distance from Islay – New Zealand, that other remote island nation where sheep have been known to outnumber the locals by 7:1.
Ardbeg Blaaack knits together velvety summer fruit pudding and bitter cherry, with a deeper edge of soot and Ardbeg’s hallmark smoke.

Del Bac American Single Malt
Whiskey Del Bac produces award-winning American Single Malt whiskey in Tucson, Arizona. 100% own-make whiskies weave the rich mosaic of the Southwestern heritage with traditional Scottish distilling methods, yielding a truly unique blend of cultures and traditions in every bottle.
About our gear:
This week we have a call to action instead of an actual gear. The Vatican has extended plenary indulgences for the dead throughout the month of November. Two main ways to gain the indulgences in the month of November: 1. Visit a cemetery and pray for the dead during the Octave of All Saints' Day. 2. Those who piously visit a church or oratory on All Souls' Day and recited the Our Father and the Creed. The decree also encourages priests to make the sacraments as widely available as possible during November.
About the Topic:
Why do we pray to St. Joseph for a happy death? What is a good death? Should you wait until the last hour to have your loved ones receive The Last Rites? What is an Apostolic Pardon? Will people actually go to Hell? We discuss this and a lot more in this episode.

About our gear:
Nailers, also known as nail guns, are available in coil and strip nail loading configurations.
Coil nailers, often called siding nailers, use flexible strings of nails joined by wires forming a round magazine. This type of nail gun is more compact and can fit into more places than models requiring nail strips. Coil nailers hold more nails than other models, so you can drive more nails than strip nail guns before reloading. Once you have your siding nails and nailer, you can learn how to select siding by checking out our Siding Buying Guide.
Strip nailers use nail magazines arranged on a long, slender strip or cartridge that slides into the gun. Strips of paper, plastic or wire hold the nails together. This configuration distributes the weight of the nails, making them easier to handle compared to coil nail guns. That means electric nailers requiring strips also handle easier than coil varieties.
Comparing Nailers
Nailers are effective and versatile. Some models are useful in heavy-duty, high-volume applications, while others work well for small jobs.
Framing nailers handle large projects, such as building decks, constructing room additions or framing houses.
Finish nailer guns are lighter than the typical framing nailer guns and work well for assembling furniture and installing cabinets, trim and molding.
Staplers, tackers and brad nailers are compact and suited for precision work. They require specialized nails.
Roofing nailers are designed for applying roof shingles. You can learn how by reading How to Install Shingles.
Flooring nailers speed up the installation of hardwood flooring.
Palm nailers are small, handheld tools that can drive nails in tight spaces. They don't have onboard nail storage, so you have to reload them after driving each nail.
About the Topic:
This episode is taken from Dr. Tim Gray - Exodus: Called to Freedom by Ascension Press
When God called Israel out of slavery in Egypt to a life of freedom as his people, it was the defining moment in Israel’s history. Exodus: Called to Freedom looks through the lens of Christ and the Church to show that, more than just seeking to free his people from the domination of Pharaoh, God desired to free his people from the far more dangerous grip of sin. Presenter Tim Gray explains how the Exodus story is not just Israel’s story but our story as well, because it reveals who God is and what he calls us to be. Discover the divine purpose behind the plagues on Egypt and how God’s law reflects his love and concern. Learn the keys to authentic freedom and how a proper understanding of the Exodus can illuminate one’s understanding of the Christian Faith.

Many times when we sin, it is because we have entertained a disorder and perceived it to be good. When we do sin many times it is hard to forget about what we have done and we can glorify the sin. That is because the divine forgiveness really erases and destroys the sin, so that its weight does not burden the conscience anymore."

True Friendship: Where Virtue Becomes Happiness
We all want true friends. But how many of us know what friendship is? "Friendship: The Art of Happiness" explains what friendship is, why we seek it, and why it is often hard to find. Philosopher John Cuddeback deftly weaves the timeless wisdom of the Greeks and Sacred Scripture into a practical wisdom that will show you the path to the most rewarding of human achievements - being a friend.
About the Topic:
Here's Dr. John Cuddeback's article we mention in the episode.
Why are we so bad at public discourse? Why can we not have civil conversations anymore? How do we cultivate good conversations within our family and teach our children to have good quality conversations? We discuss this and more with Dr. John Cuddeback in this episode. (Make sure to watch the full episode on Youtube)
About our Guest:
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88YeanRMmME]
From Dr. John Cuddeback:
In my quarter-century as a philosophy professor, I’ve been exposed to much wisdom. I try to understand it, and I want to share what I have found.
Being married twenty-five years and raising six children has also brought a few hard-to-see things to light.
I have known the struggles of being a husband, father, friend, employee, and citizen in very confusing times.
The travails of the household—as experienced by husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, children, and others—especially consume my attention and are close to my heart. The way forward is not easy, but we can search for it and travel it, together.
My search is for refreshing and revitalizing waters from a good place. Peaceful yet challenging, silent but powerful, old as the hills and exactly what we need today.
I want to reconnect with what we already know, or at least that we can know. It’s both deep within us, and it’s out there. We need to find it, and I know we can.
My goal is a more fully human life, in its many facets, lived together in community and in life-giving relationships. I hope we can work toward this together.

PATREON AUDIO: BULL OF CANONIZATION OF ST. FRANCIS
About our drink:
Kurayoshi Sherry Cask
A sherried expression from the Kurayoshi range, created by little-known Japanese whisky producer Matsui Shuzou (also known for sake and shochu). These whiskies are blended malts, made with whiskies distilled in Scotland and shipped over to Japan, where they're blended with Japanese whisky.
About our gear:
The Code of Canon Law
Here's a study edition that would be cool to have as a reference.
You can access the code of canon law on the Vatican website.
About the Topic:
What is the Code of Canon Law? Why is it important to Catholic dads? Is it infallible? We discuss these questions in this week's episode with Fr. David Webb.
About our Guest:
Fr. David Webb is the Associate Pastor of Christ the King Parish and Chaplain of St. Philip Neri Newman Center at the University of Tulsa
Here's a great introduction to Fr. David Webb.
