About our drink:
Buffalo Trace Single Barrel
Ancient buffalo carved paths through the wilderness that led American pioneers and explorers to new frontiers. One such trail led to the banks of the Kentucky River where Buffalo Trace Distillery has been making bourbon whiskey the same way for more than 200 years. In tribute to the mighty buffalo and the rugged, independent spirit of the pioneers who followed them, we created our signature Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
About our gear:
More of an action than a gear this week. We need to be talking about the positive things that happen in your prayer life to your children.
About the Topic:
We talk about the 9 choirs of angels, why they are important and what each choir's job is, and how beautiful it is that God uses all of His creation to carry out His will.

Exodus90 has started but Exodus Lent is just around the corner!
March 2nd is Ash Wednesday, and over a billion people will start living different in some way. Maybe giving up chocolate or alcohol, or whatever.
For a lot of Catholics, Lent is a time of finding the easiest way to “give something up”. But, at the end of those 40 days, did that sacrifice really make a difference?
This year, there’s a new opportunity out there specifically for men that will actually help you grow closer to God and become a better man.
You’ve heard me talk about Exodus 90 — but let me tell you about Exodus Lent: a 40-day journey that will challenge you to dig a little deeper this year.
If your first reaction is: “I’m absolutely not taking cold showers” well you’re in luck: men who take on the Exodus Lent get to take warm showers, drink alcohol, and — when you’re with others — watch TV and sports. But don’t be fooled, this will still be a challenging 40 days of preparation for living the Christian life, for the rest of your life.
Here’s how it works:
First — Over the 40 days of Lent, men commit to daily prayer, setting aside a minimum of 20 minutes to spend with the Lord. Each day includes a scripture reading and reflection written to help men better understand, grow in, and live virtue.
Second — More than just giving up chocolate, men take up a range of disciplines and sacrifices for the season of Lent. Sweets, snacks, social media, are all gone.
Third — Men commit to a fraternity of 5-7 men. Each week, the fraternity meets to pray together, check in, hold each other accountable and encourage one another.
On Easter Sunday, you’ll walk away with a new and lasting understanding of what it means to live the full Christian life. Chocolate bunnies and all.

About our drink:
Chivalry French Single Barrel Whiskey
Chivalry features a custom-made bottle resembling a knight from the 8th century. The mastery of each handmade bottle extends to the liquid inside with an expertly crafted blend of French whisky. You’ll experience notes of gentle malt, honey, vanilla, and oak. A perfect bottle for a unique gift or to be the star of the show with a bottle that will shock the room.
About our gear:
When it comes to popular power tools, the oscillating tool is the new kid on the block. The best oscillating tools cut materials like metal, wood, and drywall and can sand and file with the right attachment. They can also fit in tight and awkward spaces to tackle jobs other power tools can’t manage.
An oscillating tool uses blades and attachments made for almost every type of home improvement project by vibrating the blades from side to side in an arc, digging them into material or moving sandpaper across the surface. Keep reading to learn more about the features of these tools and how to choose the best oscillating tool for your needs.

About our drink:
Islay Mist - We really liked this malt!
"Islay Mist was created on Islay in the 1920s using whisky from the Laphroaig Distillery as well as choice Speyside distilleries. Initially blended for the 21st birthday celebration of the son and heir of the then Lord Sargadale, this gold-medal winning whisky still carries the seal of the Lord of the Isles. Staying true to the founding recipe, Islay Mist remains the original peated blend with characteristic balanced smoky and peaty tones between layers of mellow oaky maltiness."
About our gear:

About the Topic:
With a reflection on Mark 8: 22-26, we discuss the moments in our lives where it was so abundantly clear it was a grace-filled moment. The amount of grace needed for one to repent, the amount of grace needed to strive for virtue, and the little moments we don't realize change the trajectory of our lives. We talk about that and more with Fr. David Carvajal.

About the Topic:
In his classic work The Soul of the Apostolate, Dom Chautard demonstrates that the very foundation of all apostolic work must be the Interior Life. The apostle of Christ will grow to become an instrument and true channel of God’s graces to the world only through prayer, meditation and the cultivation of the Interior Life. When one is involved in works of spiritual or corporal charity, his work can only be truly efficacious when he anchors his Interior Life in Christ. Without Christ, we can do nothing.

The European oak sherry casks are carefully selected to complement the unique and much-loved taste of Laphroaig. The additional sweetness and character of the Oloroso casks add complexity and balance to create a unique and exciting expression, but one that stays true to the character of Laphroaig.
About our gear:
The Paint Stick
The Wagner PaintStick EZ Roller is great for painting walls and ceilings 2X faster than a manual roller and with less mess. The paint roller eliminates the need for messy roller trays by holding up to 22 oz. of paint directly in the handle. You can paint a 7’ X 10’ area in a single fill, allowing you to quickly transform an entire kitchen, living room, bedroom and more without having to stop and reload the roller. For even, consistent coverage, simply squeeze the trigger to feed paint directly to the paint roller. The roller also reduces the need for a ladder or step stool by providing long reach for tall walls and ceilings. The Wagner PaintStick EZ Roller is a great upgrade to traditional paint rollers and will be an ideal painting tool to have for your next room makeover!

The death of a person with the state of mortal sin, that is without any sanctifying grace.
What is mortal sin?
CCC 1855: “Mortal sin destroys charity in the heart of ma by a grave violation of God’s law; it turns man away from God, who is his ultimate end and his beatitude, by preferring an inferior good to Him.
3 conditions for mortal sin: 1. Grave matter 2. Full knowledge 3. Deliberate consent

Exodus90 has started but Exodus Lent is just around the corner!
March 2nd is Ash Wednesday, and over a billion people will start living different in some way. Maybe giving up chocolate or alcohol, or whatever.
For a lot of Catholics, Lent is a time of finding the easiest way to "give something up". But, at the end of those 40 days, did that sacrifice really make a difference?
This year, there's a new opportunity out there specifically for men that will actually help you grow closer to God and become a better man.
You've heard me talk about Exodus 90 — but let me tell you about Exodus Lent: a 40-day journey that will challenge you to dig a little deeper this year.
If your first reaction is: "I'm absolutely not taking cold showers" well you're in luck: men who take on the Exodus Lent get to take warm showers, drink alcohol, and — when you’re with others — watch TV and sports. But don’t be fooled, this will still be a challenging 40 days of preparation for living the Christian life, for the rest of your life.
Here's how it works:
First — Over the 40 days of Lent, men commit to daily prayer, setting aside a minimum of 20 minutes to spend with the Lord. Each day includes a scripture reading and reflection written to help men better understand, grow in, and live virtue.
Second — More than just giving up chocolate, men take up a range of disciplines and sacrifices for the season of Lent. Sweets, snacks, social media, are all gone.
Third — Men commit to a fraternity of 5-7 men. Each week, the fraternity meets to pray together, check in, hold each other accountable and encourage one another.
On Easter Sunday, you'll walk away with a new and lasting understanding of what it means to live the full Christian life. Chocolate bunnies and all.

About the Topic:
“And when you fast, do not look dismal, like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they have their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by men but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father whose in secret will reward you.” Matthew 6:16-18
Jesus says “when you fast” not “if you fast”. He expected us to fast. But we should not fast out of dieting or pride, but out of love of God.
Fasting improves us spiritually in several ways (from Jimmy Akin):
We express our recognition that spiritual things are more important than physical things.
We learn to deny ourselves pleasures, even in spite of pain. (Increase in fortitude)
We declare that we recognize the need to reform and to get closer to God.
We willingly embrace the hunger fasting produces as a sign of being willing to shoulder the burdens of others (Col. 1:24 - “Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I complete what is Lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the Church…”). What is lacking: Christ’s sufferings were, of course, sufficient for our redemption, but all of us may add ours to his, in order that the fruits of his redemption be applied to the souls of men.
We express humility before God by adopting a humble posture, recognizing our dependence on him and affirming our submissiveness to his will.
4 classes of penitents who committed major sins (idolatry, murder, abortion, adultery) in the ancient formal penitential discipline:
Weepers - Not allowed in the church but stayed outside and asked those going in to pray for them.
Hearers - Stood inside the church doors and heard the liturgy of the word but were dismissed before the liturgy of the Eucharist.
Kneelers - knelt or lay down in church and participated with the Church in specific prayers for them before being blessed by the bishop and dismissed prior to the Eucharist.
Standers - sat in the congregation and stayed for the liturgy of the Eucharist but did not receive Communion.
5 Tips when Fasting:
Have a specific intention for your suffering. Visualize the person you are praying for or the grace you are asking God to give you.
Set a schedule. Scheduling how your day will look helps avoid moments of inactivity. Helps to go to sleep on time and get up early.
Increase the amount of water you drink per day.
Take multi-vitamins. When you fast you will become deficient in some vitamins your body is used to having.
Don’t complain. No one should know you are fasting.
Canon Law on Feast Days:
Can. 1246 §1. Sunday, on which by apostolic tradition the paschal mystery is celebrated, must be observed in the universal Church as the primordial holy day of obligation. The following days must also be observed: the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Epiphany, the Ascension, the Body and Blood of Christ, Holy Mary the Mother of God, her Immaculate Conception, her Assumption, Saint Joseph, Saint Peter and Saint Paul the Apostles, and All Saints.
Canon Law on Days of Penance:
Can. 1251 Abstinence from meat, or from some other food as determined by the Episcopal Conference, is to be observed on all Fridays, unless a solemnity should fall on a Friday. Abstinence and fasting are to be observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.
Can. 1252 The law of abstinence binds those who have completed their fourteenth year. The law of fasting binds those who have attained their majority, until the beginning of their sixtieth year. Pastors of souls and parents are to ensure that even those who by reason of their age are not bound by the law of fasting and abstinence, are taught the true meaning of penance.
Can. 1253 The conference of bishops can determine more precisely the observance of fast and abstinence as well as substitute other forms of penance, especially works of charity and exercises of piety, in whole or in part, for abstinence and fast.

Exodus90 starts JANUARY 17!
Hey men,
Let me ask you: in the past 90 days, how often did you eat a little too much, drink a little too much, or spend too much time in the office?
How many times did you ignore your wife, children, or friends just to thumb through social media, watch Netflix, YouTube, or a game?
So many men today are distracted. They’re dependent on the comforts of this world, making them incapable of even knowing they aren’t free to say no to those things. Guys, we were made for more than this.
If you desire freedom from those attachments — Freedom to be a better husband, a better father, and a better man for others — I invite you to check out Exodus 90
Exodus 90 is a ninety-day program that gets us back to the fundamentals of the faith: prayer, self-denial, and fraternity. It starts on January 17th and ends on Easter Sunday.More than 50,000 men from around the world — Catholics, Christians, even folks that don’t align with any Christian faith — have done this. Of these men, 99% report experiencing greater freedom.

About our drink:

About our gear:
N/A - we jumped right into the topic
About the Topic:
It's important for men to gather in a small men's group. But how do we get men to the parish? What's the most important thing once we get them there? We talk about this with our guest, Fr. Brian O'Brien.
Men's groups should focus on:
Events led by men
Jesus Christ as the focus
Emphasis on reconciliation and the Eucharist
Catechesis with a male perspective
A commitment of the Bishop and priests
Build off of existing men's groups
Hold diocese-wide events on a regular basis
Hold frequent parish-focused men's events
Incorporating "dad-kid" events
