The 75th annual Primetime Emmy Awards were held last night after being delayed due to the actors' and writers' strikes from last year. While Matt Neglia could not be present to host due to his traveling schedule, Alyssa Christian, Giovanni Lago, and I were able to watch the show live and hop on the podcast immediately following the show to deliver our instant reactions to the winners and the ceremony. "Rustin" had its world premiere at the 2023 Telluride Film Festival, where its leading star, Colman Domingo, received the best reviews of his career, bringing the untold story of Bayard Rustin to the screen. Grammy-winning musical artist Lenny Kravitz contributed to the film by writing the end credits song "Road To Freedom," which was nominated for a Critics Choice and Golden Globe Award and is shortlisted at the 96th Academy Awards for Best Original Song. "Flamin' Hot" premiered at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival, where it received positive reviews and was later released on Hulu and Disney+ over the summer. Academy Award-winner Diane Warren has been nominated at the Oscars 14 times in competitive categories. This year, she's shortlisted for writing the song for the film titled "The Fire Inside," performed by Becky G. Nominated already by the Society of Composers and Lyricists and Hollywood Music in Media, she could very well earn her 15th competitive nomination this year for the song which has over 2 million views on YouTube. "Barbie" became a cultural phenomenon in 2023, becoming the year's highest-grossing film and the highest-grossing film ever directed by a woman.
