"Imaginary"

For this week's main podcast review, I am joined by Ema Sasic, Josh Parham, Danilo Castro & Cody Dericks. Today, we are reviewing the latest film from Jeff Wadlow, "Imaginary," starring DeWanda Wise, Tom Payne, Taegen Burns, Pyper Braun, Veronica Falcon & Betty Buckley. It is another Blumhouse horror film with a tiny budget and a creative premise that holds such promise. Imagine what could possibly go wrong, and it does in this disappointing movie. Join us as we discuss the tone, scares, screenplay, and moments of intentional or unintentional laughter in our SPOILER-FILLED review. Thank you for listening, as always. We hope you enjoy it!Check out more on NextBestPicture.comPlease subscribe on...SoundCloud - https://soundcloud.com/nextbestpicturepodcastApple Podcasts - https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/negs-best-film-podcast/id1087678387?mt=2Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/7IMIzpYehTqeUa1d9EC4jTYouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWA7KiotcWmHiYYy6wJqwOwAnd be sure to help support us on Patreon for as little as $1 a month at https://www.patreon.com/NextBestPicture Learn more about your ad choices. Interview With "Love Lies Bleeding" Star Katy O'Brian & Director Rose Glass

"Love Lies Bleeding" had its world premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, where it received strong reviews for its neo-noir influence, muscular direction from Rose Glass, and performances from Kristen Stewart & Katy O'Brian. Glass and O'Brian were kind enough to lend us some of their time to discuss what went into the making of the film including its violence, romantic on-screen chemistry, memorable ending (which is spoiled so if you have not seen the film yet, come back and take a listen later), what they have planned next in their careers and more. Please be sure to check out the film, which will be released in theaters by A24 on March 8th before expanding wide on March 15th. Thank you, and enjoy!Check out more on NextBestPicture.comPlease subscribe on...SoundCloud - https://soundcloud.com/nextbestpicturepodcastApple Podcasts - https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/negs-best-film-podcast/id1087678387?mt=2Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/7IMIzpYehTqeUa1d9EC4jTYouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWA7KiotcWmHiYYy6wJqwOwAnd be sure to help support us on Patreon for as little as $1 a month at https://www.patreon.com/NextBestPicture Learn more about your ad choices. "Dune: Part Two"

For this week's main podcast review, I am joined by Lauren LaMagna, Josh Parham, Dan Bayer, Cody Dericks, Giovanni Lago & Daniel Howat. Today, we are reviewing the latest film from Denis Villeneuve, "Dune: Part Two," starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Souheila Yacoub, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling & Javier Bardem. Continuing after 2021's Oscar-winning "Dune" (or "Dune: Part One"), the second half of the story brings Frank Herbert's classic 1965 sci-fi novel to life in a way many thought we would never see. Shot on a grand scale, with massive production value, and shown on the largest screens in the world in IMAX, it has kicked off 2024 with a bang as the movie event of the year so far. Such an epic film deserves an epic review, and that's what we're here to give you in our SPOILER-FILLED conversation where we discuss Villeneuve's directing, adaptation of the source material, the performances, the craftsmanship, its awards season chances, and more. Thank you for listening, as always. "Maestro" is one of the year's most well-crafted films, both on the page and up on the screen. Interviews With "The Wonderful Story Of Henry Sugar" Cinematographer & Costume Designer

"The Wonderful Story Of Henry Sugar," based on the 1977 short story of the same name by Roald Dahl, had its world premiere at the 2023 Venice International Film Festival, where it received positive reviews for filmmaker Wes Anderson bringing his trademark cinematic style to the short film format. It is the second film adaptation of Dahl's work directed by Anderson, following the Oscar-nominated "Fantastic Mr. Fox" in 2009. With an Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short, "Henry Sugar" marks Anderson's eighth Oscar nomination. Working with his usual collaborators both in front and behind the camera, the film is the first of a four-part series of shorts adapted from Dahl's short stories, including "The Swan," "The Rat Catcher," and "Poison." All of them are now available to stream on Netflix. Costume Designer Kasia Walicka-Maimone and Cinematographer Robert Yeoman were kind enough to spend a few minutes speaking with us about their work on the short film and their experience working with Anderson. Please be sure to check out the short film, which is up for your consideration for Best Live Action Short Film at this year's Academy Awards.
