Interview With "Hatching" Director, Hannah Bergholm
"Hatching" had its world premiere at this year's Sundance Film Festival as a part of its Midnight Section and is now being released by IFC Midnight this weekend in limited release. The coming-of-age horror film boasts some incredibly gruesome practical creature effects, which harkens back to horror films of the 70s and 80s with an outstanding dual performance from the film's breakout star, Siiri Solalinna. Director Hannah Bergholm was kind enough to spend a few minutes talking with us about the film's story, Siiri's performance, the film's special effects, and more. Please take a listen down below and check out the film in theaters this weekend or when it goes on-demand on May 17th. "Skyfall"
THIS IS A PREVIEW PODCAST. NOT THE FULL REVIEW. Please check out the full podcast review on our Patreon Page by subscribing over at - https://www.patreon.com/NextBestPictureOur 2012 retrospective continues with one of the biggest films from that year. Sam Mendes' "Skyfall" was a game-changer for the James Bond franchise critically, financially, and awards-wise. Heralded for its cinematography, focus on character, score, and iconic James Bond theme by multi-award-winning artist Adele, the film is often regarded as one of the finest James Bond films and one of the finest films of 2012. What do we think of it ten years later? Do the action scenes hold up for us? What about the story? How do we feel about the performances by Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, and Judi Dench? We discuss all of this plus the film's awards season run and more in our SPOILER-FILLED review down below. Joining me for this podcast retrospective review I have Sara Clements, Josh Parham, Zoe Rose Bryant & Patreon guest Ben Sears. We hope you enjoy it. Interview With "Navalny" Director, Daniel Roher
"Navalny" had its world premiere at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for U.S. Documentary and the overall Festival Favorite Award. One couldn't have guessed how a month later, the film would prove to be more timely than ever when Russia waged war on Ukraine. The documentary tells the story of the rise of Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny and the plot to assassinate him by the Kremlin. Though Navalny is currently behind bars, the documentary has resonated with all those who have seen it. Director Daniel Roher was kind enough to spend a few minutes talking with us about the impact his film is having on audiences, if he fears for his own safety after making the documentary, what went into capturing that shocking phone call between Navalny and his assassins. We discuss all of this and more in our podcast, which you can listen to down below. The film had its premiere this past Sunday on CNN & will be available on HBO Max starting May 26th. Interview With "The Northman" Director/Co-Writer, Robert Eggers
"The Northman" is the third feature film from director Robert Eggers ("The Witch" &"The Lighthouse"), and like his two previous films, it's an unforgettably immersive experience due to the meticulous amounts of research that went into the project with a gripping revenge story steeped in themes we're familiar with. Eggers set out to make the definitive Viking film, and he's done just that with his latest. The director was kind enough to speak with me for a few minutes about what it was like working with a higher budget than his last two films, what the most fun day on set was, his collaboration with Alexander Skarsgård, what he has planned next and more. Please take a listen down below, enjoy and check out the film on the biggest screen you possibly can, now playing from Focus Features! Interview With "The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent" Director/Writer Tom Gormican & Writer Kevin Etten
"The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent," which is now playing in theaters from Lionsgate, is not only a showcase role for Nicolas Cage but also a tribute to the Academy Award-winning actor. Anyone who is a fan will be won over by the film's humor, action, and fearlessness with how much Nicolas Cage throws himself into playing an exaggerated version of himself alongside a hilarious Pedro Pascal. The duo's fantastic chemistry might win over even critics and skeptics. Director/Writer Tom Gormican and co-writer Kevin Etten were kind enough to spend a few minutes talking with me about their newest film, how they managed to convince Nicolas Cage to come on board, what it was like working with Pedro Pascal, which movies would they program for a Nicolas Cage Film Festival and more! Interview With "Charlotte" Star, Keira Knightley
"Charlotte" had its world premiere at last year's Toronto International Film Festival and is now receiving a limited release starting this weekend in New York, Los Angeles, and Canada before slowly rolling out to other markets. The film tells the true story of artist Charlotte Salomon, a German-Jewish artist born in Berlin who hid from the Nazis during World War II before being tragically murdered at Auschwitz in 1943. Years later, her paintings gained international recognition, and now her story is being told in animation form by directors Eric Warin and Tahir Rana. Academy Award-nominee Keira Knightley ("The Imitation Game") provides the vocal performance for Charlotte, infusing her with grace, intelligence and warmth. Knightley was kind enough to talk with us about her work on the film, her thoughts on the true story, its subject, and more.
