Independent Thinking - Nick and Josh Hacko (@nicholashackowatch) independent Australian Watchmakers
Another episode of the Independent Thinking Show for FifthWrist Radio. This is a place dedicate to showcasing the great people doing interesting and cool things in the world of horology.
Hosts Roman (@TimesRomanAU) and Alex “aka The Podfather” (@thewatchregulator) chat with Nick and Josh Hacko (@nicholashackowatch) - a fiercely independent watchmaking father and son team behind the Australian Indie Watchmaking Company “Nicholas Hacko Watches”.
Join us for a truely passionate and honest conversation about independent watchmaking; the challenges of carving your own path in the horological industry; and the exciting journey Hacko Watches are undertaking manufacturing and machining watches in Australia.
We also talk about the importance of integrity and suffering for your craft; passion and drive which underpins everything Nick and Josh are doing to create a truly unique ecosystem to support and further independent watchmaking.
We also talk about their new watch NH3, manufactured in Sydney Australia about to be released; and why George Daniels can be blamed for unrealistic expectations customers have of independent watchmakers.
Also - we introduce the concept of “artisanally distressed” dials (make sure to listen out for that).
Strap yourself in (watch pun VERY MUCH intended!) It’s a great conversation. Hope you enjoy!
Special shout-out in this episode to Konstantin Chaykin (@k_chaykin); Josh Shapiro (@jnshapiro_watches), Collective Horology (@collectivehorology); Buchanan Clocks; Jochen Benzinger (@benzingerwatches); and Tommy Jobson (@tommy.jobson); Anton Suhanov (@anton.suhanov); Artur Akmaev (@arturakmaev_watches); Kilian Leschnik (@watchmaker.kl).

DTS - Watch talk with Joe from @BIAOIST
Welcome to The Defining Time Show on Fifth Wrist Radio. This week Anthony (@defining_time) is joined by Adam (@mediumwatch) as we journey to Taiwan to catch up with Joe (@biaoist). Joe is the founder of Redbar Taiwan (@redbartaiwan), a banker by day, and a collector of "OG" watches.
Joe begins the podcast double-wristing some "Oaks", with a "Baby Oak" (AP Royal Oak 56175) to match Adam and a JellyOak (G-Shock GA2100SKE) to match Anthony. We then learn the origins of Joe's top hat logo, his thoughts on how leadership has changed in the past year, and how leading from home has changed his watch choices. Diving into Joe's watch box, we hear the stories behind his Royal Oaks, learn more about his passion for Grand Seiko, and discover the reasons behind his decision to aim to collect the original version of many watches. We then discuss other approaches to collecting that he has learned about through chatting with collectors at Redbar Taiwan and on his podcast (see Biaoist.com). We then briefly dive into the Mandarin watch media, watch collecting in Taiwan, and how he decided to found Redbar Taiwan. We conclude with a discussion of how our listeners can learn more about watch content from the Mandarin-speaking world.
Be sure to follow @biaoist on IG to see the evolution of this fine collection of "OG" watches.

Popcorn - 1999 with Zach Kazan (Worn & Wound)
What's Good! It's Episode 27 of Popcorn on FifthWrist Radio. This week Charith (@charithsir) and SIdd (@sidd.pad) are joined by Worn & Wound Associate Editor Zach Kazan (@zkazan)!
The guys get chatting with Zach who is a genuine watch and film buff about his passions, how he got into them and how he turned being an enthusiast to a profession working at Worn & Wound. Oh hey, they also throw in a Johnny English Watch Spot.
Then we have a Draft! 1999 is widely regarded as one of the truly great years in movie history so they go deep into it! The greatest movies of 1999, by genre! It's an absolute banger, throw in a trademark Sidd pick, an unfortunate Kevin Spacey mention and a whipped cream bikini. This one truly gets nerdy!
Zach also does his Deserted Island, one that actually has some thought behind it!
PLEASE NOTE: We did have some issues with Sidd's audio on this episode, we tried to rescue and repair as much as we could!

The European Gang Talks Watches #3
A couple of European guys from the global fifthwrist-family meet to talk watches - this time not necessarily peaceful ...
While all share the passion for watches, each of them has a sweet spot for a subsection of the world of watches:
Phil (@pippy) loves Seiko,
Benoît (@petitsecondes) runs his own fifthwrist-radio show about vintage watches,

Claus (@tapir_ffm) is an dyed-in-the-wool ochs und junior fan-boy …
Each of the gang will defend his thesis … and the others will – as eloquent as merciless – give him a hard time!
Let the carnage begin …
