Episode 29: Kevin Davis

The Trauma Therapist Podcast is about highlighting the journeys of master trauma therapists, as well as individuals who are doing amazing things in the trauma field. Enter my next guest: Kevin Davis of The Anxiety Coaches Podcast.Several months ago, prior to launching my own podcast, The Trauma Therapist Podcast, I came across the Anxiety Coaches Podcast. Kevin Davis and Brian Sellers, co-hosts, both have suffered from anxiety and/or PTSD. When I discovered their podcast I was so inspired by the fact that here were two guys talking about the fact that they have anxiety, sharing their stories with the world and in the process, helping a lot of people who otherwise wouldn’t get any help. Now he has a top-ranked podcast and is helping thousands of people all over the world ease the symptoms of their anxiety!Five years ago Kevin was involved in a serious car accident in which the airbags did not deploy. As a result, Kevin suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder causing him to leave his job and begin working for himself so that he could more effectively manage his symptoms.Kevin has held certifications in sports nutrition, personal training, CrossFit, and strength and conditioning. He has spent the last 12 years helping countless others lose between 10 and 20, even 100 or more pounds, change their lifestyle, and become more healthy. He also started by doing this himself…through a more primal lifestyle, exercise, and real food he was able to lose 80 pounds and gain health and self-confidence.Kevin is now in the process of obtaining a Master’s degree in counseling with an emphasis in crisis response and trauma.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-trauma-therapist-podcast-with-guy-macpherson-phd-inspiring-interviews-with-thought-leaders-in-the-field-of-trauma/exclusive-contentBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-trauma-therapist--5739761/support.

Episode 23: Guy Macpherson, PhD. The Trauma Therapist Live!: The Power of Presence.

TheTrauma Therapist Live! podcasts are shorter segments in which I reflect on the themes and topics coming up on the podcast and discuss the nuts and bolts of how these themes pertain to the trauma therapist, what we can learn from them, and how we can apply them in the work we do.BioMy name is Guy Macpherson. I am a husband, father, brother, and a psychologist. I specialize in the treatment of trauma and early psychosis. My passion is helping trauma therapists thrive.I do this by helping trauma clinicians engage more effectively and deeply with their clients by:Sharing trauma information and materialsBuilding communityThe Trauma Therapist PodcastCoaching (http://www.westcoasttraumaproject.com/trauma-therapy-coaching--consultation) therapists to (re)discover their own why for this workFor the last six years I have dedicated myself to the study of trauma psychology, trauma therapy, post-traumatic growth, and most recently, the intersection of trauma and psychosis, specifically the signs of early psychosis.InspirationMy inspiration comes from working with the courageous individuals determined to learn and find meaning from the trials they have endured. My inspiration comes from personal experience as well: My brother is a Navy SEAL veteran who suffered with PTSD.WhyA few years after my brother’s return from Iraq, and inspired by his accomplishments, I went on a two-week survival course with Boulder Outdoor Survival School (BOSS) in the middle of Utah. It was the first time I'd ever done anything like this and it required all the courage I had. It was the middle of summer, we were hiking all day, without backpacks and just the clothes we could wear. We had water, but no food for the first four days. On the third day one of our members became ill and wasn't able to walk. Myself and another member carried this young man for the next two days. We helped him up ridges, through canyons, and tried to encourage him with every step.I share this story because it was at that moment that I knew what I wanted to do with my life:I want to help individuals who are in dire situations discover their strength and thrive. My goal with the West Coast Trauma Project is to help other trauma therapists thrive--through providing actionable information, community building, inspiration and support.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-trauma-therapist-podcast-with-guy-macpherson-phd-inspiring-interviews-with-thought-leaders-in-the-field-of-trauma/exclusive-contentBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-trauma-therapist--5739761/support.
