Episode 470: Robyn Gobbell & Marshall Lyles. Finding Compassion For All Of Our Parts

Episode 464: Esly Carvalho, PhD. Bringing Joy to Life

Esly Regina Carvalho, Ph.D., is a Brazilian-American clinical psychologist who maintained a private practice in the Dallas area where she grew up for many years before her return to Brazil in 2006 and where she now directs the TraumaClinic in Brasilia, Brazil, and spends extended time training EMDR professionals in that country.  She was trained in EMDR in the US (1996-7) and eventually became and Trainer of Trainers with the EMDR Institute. Since her return to her native country, over 3000 EMDR therapists have been trained through the efforts of her team. EMDR training is offered in over twenty cities in Brazil, as well as advanced courses. Esly served the first two terms as EMDR Iberoamérica (EMDR IBA) president (2007-2010/2010-2013), the regional EMDR association for Latin America. Her first training approach was in Psychodrama and Esly was approved, with distinction, as a Trainer, Educator and Practitioner by the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama in the US. She was also honored as a Fellow of the American Society for Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama. Due to her husband’s duties, Esly lived in many countries in Latin America: Ecuador, Bolivia, and then in Colorado Spring, Dallas, and finally Brazil. She is a native speaker of English and Portuguese, and speaks and trains in Spanish as well. An international trainer and speaker in great demand, Esly has published books and articles about the use of EMDR and the integration of Psychodrama. Episode 462: Michael Salter. Women, Complex Trauma, and The Need For Recognition

Associate Professor Michael Salter is a criminologist and Scientia Fellow at the University of New South Wales, where he undertakes research on child sexual exploitation, complex trauma and gendered violence. He is the author of Organised Sexual Abuse (Routledge, 2013) which examines the narratives of adults who were sexually abused by groups of perpetrators as children, and Crime Justice and Social Media (Routledge, 2017), which details how social media and the internet is impacting sexual offences and discussions about them. He sits on the board of directors of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, who awarded him the 2018 Morton Prince Award for Scientific Achievement. He is a national and international consultant to child protection agencies including the Australian Child Abuse Prevention Service and the Canadian Centre for Child Protection.
