She gets to the heart of the matter in her discussions and I love that!In our modalities section this month we feature Imago Therapy and highlight one of its practitioners/trainers.In the "Incredible People" section we put the spotlight on some of the therapists who are continuing to do inspiring work: Brad Kammer and Mahshid Hager, MFT. Learn more about The Trauma Therapist Newsletter here.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-trauma-therapist-podcast-with-guy-macpherson-phd-inspiring-interviews-with-thought-leaders-in-the-field-of-trauma/exclusive-contentBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-trauma-therapist--5739761/support.

Episode 527: Sarah Peyton. Truth, Trauma & Self Warmth

Sarah Peyton joins me again. (She’s joined me previously.) This time to Talk about her new book, Your Resonant Self Workbook: From Self-sabotage to Self-care.  Why is it that we often don’t allow ourselves to feel warmth, to take a break, to chill out? And when we do, it’s often that we’re so hard on ourselves?  Sarah talks a lot about this in her book and how our actions like these tend to cut us off from our true selves and a richer life. Yes, I’m guilty of that!! Sarah is a Certified Trainer of Nonviolent Communication and teaches people how language changes relationships and the brain. She works with audiences internationally to create a compassionate understanding of the effects of relational trauma on the brain, and writes about and teaches people how words change and heal us.Her special interest is the way that difficult events impact our automatic brain patterning, and how to transform our tendencies toward self-criticism into self-warmth. Her first book is titled, Your Resonant Self: Guided Meditations and Exercises to Engage Your Brain’s Capacity for Healing. Your Resonant Self Workbook: From Self-sabotage to Self-care takes us through the world of relational neuroscience and, using the lens of unconscious contracts, explores how our brains, nervous systems, and bodies react to the brains, nervous systems, and bodies of others.   This workbook provides the tools to turn inward with kindness, warmth, and curiosity and create opportunities for self-healing.  In This EpisodeMara's website Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-trauma-therapist-podcast-with-guy-macpherson-phd-inspiring-interviews-with-thought-leaders-in-the-field-of-trauma/exclusive-contentBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-trauma-therapist--5739761/support.

Episode 524: Kari Gleiser, PhD. Using Emotion To Heal

I think this is one of the most inspiring interviews I’ve done. Again, not because of me, but due to my guest and how she works with clients. In this interview we’ll learn about AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) and the emphasis on being in the moment, and naming the experiences that are happening between the client and therapist. This calls for authenticity from the therapist as well as creativity. And each of these things excite and inspire me! I hope you enjoy this one.  Kari Gleiser is a clinical psychologist in Hanover, NH, specializing in the treatment of complex trauma and dissociative disorders. She is a senior faculty member at the AEDP Institute and co-founder/co-director of the Center for Integrative Health.  Keri has developed a relational model that incorporates AEDP into work with dissociative disorders, and dissociative parts of the self, called Intra-relational AEDP.     In This EpisodeAEDP InstituteDr. Diana Fosha, the author of the The Transforming Power of AffectCenter for Integrative HealthLeaves of Grass: The Original 1855 Edition, Walt WhitmanEducated: A Memoir: A Memoir, Tara WestoverSong of Ourselves: Walt Whitman and the Fight for Democracy, Walt WhitmanSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-trauma-therapist-podcast-with-guy-macpherson-phd-inspiring-interviews-with-thought-leaders-in-the-field-of-trauma/exclusive-contentBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-trauma-therapist--5739761/support.
