461: When Glennon Came To Visit

Two weeks ago, Glennon Doyle Zoom bombed a Momentum Mamas meeting while we were talking about her book, Untamed. To say we were surprised and delighted would be a huge understatement. I was almost speechless. And sweating profusely. She was everything I hoped she would be: funny, humble, raw, brutally honest, and wise as hell. She spoke about why the pain must come before the rising and how revelations make necessary space for revolutions. While I have never shared our membership conversations on the show before, I decided to share this conversation because I know we all need a little more Glennon in our lives right now. Listen to this conversation. Get Untamed. BE THE CHEETAH.Thank you to our sponsors: Blinkist: Go to Blinkist.com/SHAMELESS try it FREE for 7 days AND save 25% off your new subscription. 457: There Is No Going Back To Normal. Thankfully.

What if the beauty of a revolution is that you don’t get to “go back to normal” afterward?Living through a pandemic and a cultural revolution in the same few month period has caused a massive shift. A much needed shift, in so many ways. A shift that is providing hope - if we commit to doing better moving forward. This is not to say there have not been losses and traumas to grieve during this time. The losses have been profound. But, there has also been new levels of awareness and conscientiousness. There has been large scale growth in knowledge and perspective. Many have tremendously expanded their capacity for compassion and empathy, as well as their commitment to being change makers.Glennon Doyle talks about “the Knowing” in her new book, Untamed. Our Knowing is this deep sense inside ourselves that we must learn to listen to if we want to live in alignment with our core values, if we want to do better. We are in a time when we are expanding our Knowing in deep and powerful ways. And this Knowing is leading us to more doing and better doing. Glennon is known for her saying, “First the pain, then the rising.” I want to add to that - first the Knowing, then the doing. As we know more and Know more deeply, we can take action. We have more power. Our voices become louder. We move through the phases of Knowing > Growing > Doing. So, we don’t get to go back. Thankfully. We get to Know, Grow, and Do so much better as we move forward. Listen in to learn 4 essential questions you can ask yourself as you commit to doing better moving forward.Links mentioned: Join my FREE Shine Like A Mother workshop on July 15th: shamelessmom.com/shineThank you to our sponsor: Magic Spoon: Go to magicspoon.com/SMA to grab a variety pack and try it today!
