Catching Foxes
Luke and Gomer
Luke and Gomer became friends Freshman year at the Franciscan University of Steubenville and 14 years later they started a podcast. The show oscillates between a conversation between just the two of us and interviews that we do together of other, fancier people. Sometimes we get explicit either by being too honest or by being too stupid. Either way, it's fun!

I readily discovered the prodigious influence which this primary fact exercises on the whole course of society, by giving a certain direction to public opinion, and a certain tenor to the laws; by imparting new maxims to the governing powers, and peculiar habits to the governed. I speedily perceived that the influence of this fact extends far beyond the political character and the laws of the country, and that it has no less empire over civil society than over the Government; it creates opinions, engenders sentiments, suggests the ordinary practices of life, and modifies whatever it does not produce. The more I advanced in the study of American society, the more I perceived that the equality of conditions is the fundamental fact from which all others seem to be derived, and the central point at which all my observations constantly terminated.

The cardinal discusses fundamental misunderstandings of the Second Vatican Council's intentions for liturgical renewal, especially about the priest's orientation of prayer to the Father, the placement of the tabernacle in churches, and the posture of kneeling.
This edition includes the earlier classic work with the same title by Servant of God Romano Guardini, a book that helped Ratzinger to "rediscover the liturgy in all its beauty, hidden wealth and time-transcending grandeur, to see it as the animating center of the Church, the very center of Christian life".

In The Friendship of Christ, first published in 1912, the Catholic convert son of an Archbishop of Canterbury shows how anyone can achieve a deeper relationship with God the Son. The book shows how Christ works in the soul of those who seek him, in his public life, and in the historical examples given in the Gospels. "There is one supreme friendship to which all human friendship points," writes Benson, "one ideal friend in whom we find, perfect and complete, that for which we look in the faces of our human lovers."
I've Seen The Sun by Five Iron Frenzy - YouTube — I fight tsunamis with an umbrella
I deal the left hook like a Mother Theresa
I'm facing down death like a fly on the windscreen
You bring the warheads
I'm bringing ice cream
And I've got something more
And I believe
I've seen the Sun come down
I've felt its fire burn
And in the dark of night
I hold to its return
I'm screaming down into the black abyss
I was born for such a time as this
So hit me with your bad news
Bells are ringing
Tell me that I'm doomed and I'll keep singing
The fight won't end with me
And I believe
I've seen the Sun come down
I've felt its fire burn
And in the dark of night
I hold to its return
I know it's growing cold
And there's a lot to learn
I've seen the Sun come down
I hold to its return
Night falls and the waters rise
Leaders lead with the fear and lies
Savior says don't be surprised
Everything's gonna be alright
I've seen the Sun come down
I've felt its fire burn
And in the dark of night
I hold to its return
I know it's growing cold
And there's a lot to learn
I've seen the Sun come down
I hold, I hold to its return
It's going to be alright
And there's a lot to learn
It's going to be alright
And there's a lot to learn
It's going to be alright
And there's a lot to learn
It's going to be alright
I hold to its return

I Only Listened to One Episode, I'm Sorry, with Mrs. Ruvi
Gomer and Luke chat with Katie Ruvalcaba about her new podcast, Parasocial Anxiety. Which tells an insane story she experienced. There's swatting, fandom, and a lot of stuff there. We go pretty deep. It's a good one.
We also talk about Five Iron Frenzy, the greatest band to ever band. And probably a few other things I am forgetting.

The Mindful Catholic: Finding God One Moment at a Time by Dr. Gregory Bottaro, Peter Kreeft - foreword - Audiobook - Audible.com — Dr. Greg Bottaro explains how mindfulness can help us become aware of the present moment and accept it. Catholic mindfulness is a way to practically trust God more in our lives. Instead of separating faith from day-to-day life, mindfulness helps bridge the gap so we can feel the sense of safety and peace God intends us to have.
What is the CatholicPsych Institute? — "Become who you are."
These words from St. John Paul II have echoed in my heart since I first heard them in 1997 at World Youth Day in Paris. My journey has taken me from being a student in the classroom of Peter Kreeft to a Franciscan Friar with Fr. Benedict Groeschel, and eventually to earning a doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2012 before forming the CatholicPsych Institute.
I formed CatholicPsych to empower people to become who they are by providing services and resources that integrate authentic Catholic anthropology with sound psychological science. Home | CatholicPsych Academy
