62 - With Lagom Life is Just Right
62 - With Lagom, Life is Just Right
I talk about a philosophy that's been gaining popularity lately - Lagom. I recently read a book called "Hygge and Lagom: The Ultimate Guide to Scandinavian Ways of Living a Balanced Life Filled with Coziness and Happiness" by Barbara Hayden, and it really resonated with me.
Lagom is a Swedish word that means "just enough," and it emphasizes simplicity and decluttering in all aspects of life. It's not about being a minimalist or having too much, but finding the right balance. The goal is to achieve a fuss-free lifestyle that allows for relaxation and enjoyment of quality activities and items.
I'll be sharing some tips for simplifying your life and finding that golden mean. We'll talk about evaluating your possessions, time commitments, relationships, goals, and bad habits. We'll also discuss the importance of learning to say no and loving having less.
By simplifying our lives, we can achieve peace of mind, clarity, and freedom. So, let's dive into the world of Lagom and discover how we can create a fulfilling and rich life.

61 - Get Cozy in Your Own Chair
61 - Get Cozy in Your Own Chair
Welcome to today's episode where I'm diving into the philosophy of Lagom. I reviewed the book called "Hygge and Lagom: The Ultimate Guide to Scandinavian Ways of Living a Balanced Life Filled with Coziness and Happiness" by Barbara Hayden.
In this episode, I'm going to talk about the concept of "hygge" and how to incorporate comfort and coziness into your daily life. We'll explore some simple things you can do to create a cozy nook, including warm socks, a soft blanket, and low lighting. And we'll also discuss indulging in warm drinks and comfort foods, as well as incorporating crafts and soothing music.
What I love about this book is how it emphasizes the importance of simplicity and using all of our senses to find what makes us personally comfortable and happy. The ultimate goal is to create a sense of calm and relaxation amid life's storms, and I'm excited to share some of these tips and tricks with you today. So sit back, relax, and let's explore the philosophy of Lagom together!

60 - Grit or Quit? Be the Best or Rest?
60 - Grit or Quit? Best or Rest?
I discussed the book by Eric Barker's book, Barking Up the Wrong Tree, and I share what it takes to be successful. One of the biggest takeaways was the importance of both grit and strategic quitting. It's not just about working hard, but also being smart about how you use your time and making sure you prioritize rest and a balanced life. And let's not forget that confidence should be earned through accomplishments, not just knowing the right people or being a good friend.
Another great tip I learned from Barker is that scheduling tasks is actually more effective than creating to-do lists. And having a shutdown ritual can really help you transition from work to personal time and avoid burnout. But perhaps the most important thing is to keep trying new things and find a realistic goal that matches your strengths. It's all about finding the right balance and working toward success in a way that works for you.

59 - Can Nice People Get Ahead?
59 - Can Nice People Get Ahead
I talk about the book “Barking Up the Wrong Tree” by Eric Barker and I have to say, it really got me thinking. As a nice person, I often wonder if it’s possible to get ahead in life and work without being a jerk. And according to Barker, it is! Sure, appearance and making a good impression on bosses are important, but in the long run, it’s the givers who are more successful. By practicing generous tit-for-tat and forgiving after being betrayed, we build a reputation as trustworthy and kind people. So let’s focus on reciprocity and being the best versions of ourselves because that’s what really pays off in the end.

57 - Do What You and the World Wants
57 - Pick the Full or Half Ikigai
I'm excited to talk about a book that's all about finding your life's purpose and achieving happiness - How to Ikigai by Tim Tamashiro. In this book, Tamashiro takes us on a journey of self-discovery and helps us overcome our fears of failure, success, and judgment from others. He suggests experimenting with different things and interviewing people to help you discover your strengths and interests.
What I love about this book is that it's not just about finding what you love and what you're good at, but also finding what the world needs and how you can be rewarded for it. Tamashiro also talks about the benefits of having a growth mindset and taking a gap year to find your ikigai.
If you're feeling stuck in life or just want to find more purpose and happiness, I highly recommend checking out How to Ikigai. And to really put these concepts into action, Tamashiro even suggests doing a 30-day project to find your half Ikigai. So what are you waiting for?

55 - Have a Great Day
55 - Have a Great Day
Today, we're going to be talking about something that we all strive for - making the most out of our day. So, what can we do to ensure that we're having a productive and fulfilling day?
Well, first things first - let's talk about arriving early to appointments. It might seem like a small thing, but trust me, it can make a huge difference in how you approach your day. By getting to your appointments early, you're avoiding unnecessary stress and anxiety.
Setting small tasks for yourself throughout the day can be incredibly helpful. By doing so, you'll feel accomplished and productive throughout the day, even if you're not tackling big projects.
But it's not just about being productive - it's also about taking care of yourself. That means organizing your space, learning software shortcuts, and avoiding social media when you need to buckle down and focus. And of course, eating well and doing things you enjoy are also important for mental and physical well-being. In other words, focus on the present and don't dwell on the past. With a bit of planning and prioritizing self-care and enjoyment, you can have a great day every day.
