Jenedy Paige: The Power of a Personal Relationship with God
Jenedy Paige knows a thing or two about strength. For one, she's competed on American Ninja Warrior—a feat she never thought she could accomplish but that she believes God led her to. But she also knows that strength comes from having a personal relationship with God during challenging times, like when her son died due to a drowning accident, and during beautiful times like when she is alone in her art studio during the early morning hours of the day. What has grounded her through it all? On this week’s episode, Jenedy shares a guarantee that she relies on that gives her strength—she calls it PJs. 2:00- PJS 11:36- Drowning and Grief 28:22- Real Art Ninja 44:23- What Does It Mean To Be All In the Gospel of Jesus Christ? “As you develop that relationship with Jesus Christ, as you come to know Him, He teaches you who you are, and what you're capable of. Eric Weddle: From Retirement to Super Bowl in Six Weeks
It was a call Eric Weddle never would’ve anticipated when he hung up his jersey for what he thought was the last time two years earlier. But the Los Angeles Rams were in desperate need of a safety and asked if Weddle would don the jersey for one last run. Weddle certainly didn’t feel he was NFL Playoff ready, but he was in good physical shape and has never been one to pass up an opportunity. So with the encouragement of his wife and kids, Weddle left his carpool duties as a father for a time and set out on an unlikely quest to win a Super Bowl. When the Super Bowl was over, he happily returned to the carpool. 1:51- An Ending Made For A Movie 7:02- Being Ready And Taking Opportunities 10:52- The Culmination of Work 14:36- Sharing The Experience With Kids 17:43- Mental Toughness 20:46- Becoming Part of a Team Fast 24:16- Coaching 26:01- Seeing God’s Hand 30:55- Finding the Gospel 39:11- Putting God First 44:44- What Does It Mean To Be All In the Gospel of Jesus Christ? “The world and everything outside doesn’t want us to be close to the Savior, doesn’t want us to have stability and doesn’t want us to have families and a core unit at home that we rely on each other…they don’t want that. And it can bring us down but if you just try your best, your best is all that is needed.” Eric Weddle biography by Trent Toone CBS San Diego interview after Super Bowl See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Because them plus Christ is enough. We're not enough on our own but with Christ, we are.” Magnify Podcast- https://www.magnifythegood.com/podcast President M. Russell Ballard quote- "Gone are the days when a student asked an honest question and a teacher responded, 'Don’t worry about it!' Gone are the days when a student raised a sincere concern and a teacher bore his or her testimony as a response intended to avoid the issue. Gone are the days when students were protected from people who attacked the Church. Fortunately, the Lord provided this timely and timeless counsel to you teachers: 'And as all have not faith, seek ye diligently and teach one another words of wisdom; yea, seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom; seek learning, even by study and also by faith.'" Elder Jeffrey R. Holland quote- "And if those children are unresponsive, maybe you can’t teach them yet, but you can love them. And if you love them today, maybe you can teach them tomorrow." Justin and Kristi Osmond: The Gift of Being Deaf and the Gift of Hearing
Justin and Kristi Osmond: The Gift of Being Deaf and the Gift of Hearing For the first two years of his life, Justin Osmond was totally unable to hear the music that made his dad and uncles famous. Born with 90 percent hearing loss, the son of Merrill Osmond initially resented his inability to hear but it has become something he has embraced and something his wife, Kristi, loves because it has made him who he is. After 12 years of intense speech and listening therapy, Justin is able to give voice to a community rarely heard from on a podcast. On this week’s episode, we talk with Justin and Kristi about how it’s by leaning into our challenges that we become who we were meant to be. Shima Baughman: What’s More Powerful Than Public Policy?
Shima Baughman has worked for years to bring about policy reform, especially as it relates to incarceration. After immigrating to the United States from Iran as a child, Shima has become an attorney, a national expert on bail and pretrial prediction, and a professor of criminal law at the University of Utah. But while she is a believer in giving second chances through law, on this week’s episode she explains the most powerful type of reform isn't only through the justice system. Instead, she believes change truly occurs as people turn their hearts to Christ. “Changing policy is temporary, but changing a creature or a human is lasting and that's only done through Jesus Christ." 1:23- A Traumatic Fairy Tale of Sorts 10:29- A Rich Heritage 15:29- Becoming a Lawyer 18:07- Justice and Mercy 20:54- The Savior and The Incarcerated 26:09- Failure and the Transformative Power of Christ 34:01- A Career Change 38:13- Temple Attendance Tip 39:16- Identity 42:40- What Does It Mean To Be All In the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Porter and Carlie Ellett: The Kansas City Chiefs' Left-Hand Man and How God Led Him to a Super Bowl
When Porter Ellett was 4 years old, he fell off the back of a truck and lost the use of his arm. Then as a teenager, he decided to have that arm amputated. Today, he is known around the NFL as “Lefty,” a nickname given to him after Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid began calling Porter his “left-hand man.” On this week’s episode, Porter and his wife, Carlie, share the story of why Porter has never let having one arm stop him from achieving his dreams—and how God paved the way for him to do represent something far more meaningful than football on the sport's biggest stage. "I believe what he does is super important, not the X's and O's and the winning of games, but professional football doesn't showcase a lot of people who are different. There's not a lot of people with disabilities at the professional sports level because it's the greatest in the world and so to have any sort of perceived weakness isn't going to be on your side. Having Porter on the football field and coaching I knew was so important for an entire community who doesn't get represented in professional sports." 02:38- Lifetime Chiefs Fan or No? 3:50- The Accident and Amputation 7:19- Adapting 9:18- What They See When They Stare 13:14- The New Era 18:04- A Dreamer and a Planner 23:38- A Call From Andy Reid 29:56- A Team At Home 40:30- Lessons from Coach Reid 48:14- What Does It Mean To Be All In the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Elliott Smith: Cultivating a Fear-Free Worship Experience
Attending church for the first time. Coming back to church after a period of inactivity. Going through the temple for the first time. Seeking to develop a love for the temple. These are all experiences that can feel daunting or overwhelming. But years ago, a bishop who had been through a period of inactivity himself sought to create what he called “a fear-free worship experience” for everyone in his congregation—and Elliott Smith says it made all the difference in their ward. So wherever you are on your journey along the covenant path, we invite you to consider how we can best help one another along by also seeking to eliminate fear in our own congregations. 6:08- Fear Free Worship 12:17- Preparing For Baptism 17:10- First Impression of the Temple and Appropriate Expectations 33:58- 4 Ps 41:48- What Does It Mean To Be All In the Gospel of Jesus Christ? “We won’t ever be perfected in HIm until we are perfected through Him.” For link: Elder Maxwell- Proximate Joy- https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/1994/10/brightness-of-hope?lang=eng See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
