Public Rejecting EV's, Demise of the Sports Section, California & Child Trafficking
Hillsdale College Radio General Manager and Radio Free Hillsdale Hour Host Scot Bertram is in for Jim today. After a quick discussion of ethics concerns over the Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor's staff working to push her book sales, they applaud the independence of the American consumer for buying the vehicles that work best for them - and that means not many of them are buying electric vehicles for a lot of good reasons. They also shake their heads as the New York Times kills is printed sports section altogether and the Los Angeles Times will not longer have game stories, box scores, or standings - you know, the sports content that actually matters. Finally, they recoil as Democrats in California reject legislation to require stiffer penalties for trafficking children. The left is also trying to reduce interest in the anti-trafficking film "Sound of Freedom." But why?Timestamps:1:00 - Ethical concerns concerning Justice Sotomayor4:32 - Big stockpiles of electric vehicles as consumers reject them10:46 - New York Times & LA Times gut their sports sections16:47 - California Dems reject tougher penalties for child traffickingPlease visit our great sponsors:4Patriothttps://4Patriots.comUse code MARTINI to get 10% off your purchase.

NRSC Picking Favorites, Ring Cameras & the Cops, Newsom's Shadow Campaign
Greg is back! Join Jim and Greg as they discuss National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Steve Daines publicly endorsing his preferred candidates in Montana and Nevada in an effort to avoid missed opportunities like the GOP suffered in 2022. They also roll their eyes as Wired magazine denounces Ring doorbell cameras as being too easy to use to help police solve crimes. Finally, they raise their eyebrows as Politico rolls out fawning coverage of California Gov. Gavin Newsom - including stories on his inner circle and his leadership style. Not exactly the kind of stories we usually see from people who are not running for office soon. Please visit our great sponsors:4Patriothttps://4Patriots.comUse code MARTINI to get 10% off your purchase.

Corporate Wokeness Backfires, US-Ukraine Confusion, Biden's Secret Short Temper
Chad Benson from The Chad Benson Show fills in for Greg today as he joins Jim with good, bad, and crazy martinis. First they discuss the recent boycotts against companies pushing leftist messages, exposing corporations poorly perceiving public opinion on important issues. They then react to the confusion regarding US policy towards Ukraine, pointing out some confusing decisions from the current administration and discuss more cohesive alternatives. Finally, they sigh at a recent Axios article that gives a criminally flattering portrayal of President Biden's reportedly short temper in private, and how it might be related to his increasing age. Chad Benson from The Chad Benson Show fills in for Greg today as he joins Jim with good, bad, and crazy martinis.GOOD: Ron DeSantis commits to the first GOP debate, with or without Trump.BAD: There's always been a contradiction between Musk's rhetoric on free speech and playing footsie with China, but Tesla pledging to enhance "core socialist values" is taking it to a new level.CRAZY: I really want to see Ukraine win the war, but Biden's decision to send them cluster munitions strikes me as a move that is going to play very badly.Jim's Twitter is @JimGeraghty and Chad's is @ChadBensonShow.Please visit our great sponsors:4Patriothttps://4Patriots.comUse code MARTINI to get 10% off your purchase. Chad Benson from The Chad Benson Show fills in for Greg today as he joins Jim with good, bad, and crazy martinis. They first discuss the "shadow campaigns" run by Democrats such as Gavin Newsom and the Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's possible 2028 run, and how the party has to play around Biden's run for re-election. They then react to the DOJ appealing a lower court's ban on the Biden administration's communication with social media companies to censor "objectionable" posts, with the case likely ending up in the Supreme Court. They finally opine on cocaine found in the White House, with "one familiar with the investigation" by the Secret Service saying the perpetrator is "unlikely to be determined".Timestamps:0:24 - Democrats weigh runs against, after Biden5:52 - Biden's DOJ challenges lower court over social media collaboration w/ White House12:30 - Cocaine found in White House, inside source says perp likely not foundPlease visit our great sponsors:4Patriothttps://4Patriots.comUse code MARTINI to get 10% off your purchase. 4th of July Special
As the United States marks 247 years of independence, it's time to celebrate what we love about this country. While many people in this country prefer to focus on what they think is wrong with the U.S. or contend that it has been flawed from the beginning, Jim and Greg take time to express some of the different things they love about being Americans. From the revolutionary ideas that led to our founding freedoms to understanding how much better we have it than other nations and from the beauty of our land to the variety of places we can live and visit, there is so much to appreciate about being an American.Timestamps:1:46 - Loving the variety we have in the U.S.4:28 - Loving our founding principles7:23 - Experiencing other countries makes you love America more11:39 - America as a beacon of hope brought our ancestors here14:45 - The people of the U.S. help to make us great18:42 - America is beautifulPlease visit our great sponsors:4Patriothttps://4Patriots.comUse code MARTINI to get 10% off your purchase. You Ask, We Answer Part 1
Some of our favorite episodes are the ones where you ask Jim and Greg questions and they offer their takes on politics, sports, pop culture or whatever else is on your mind.Today, they analyze why people with no chance of being elected president decide to run for the office anyway and respond to a listener who wants the people to have a say on who Jim and Greg label as the poster child for generic Republicans. They also take on a question about how to tame the administrative state and stop unelected government bureaucrats from making rules and de facto laws. Would it help to adopt a constitutional amendment explaining that power rests only in Congress? And of course there's a question about "Die Hard." Specifically, should this epic film ever be rebooted, and if so, who should direct it and star in it?Timestamps:1:23 - Why do people run for president when they have no chance of winning7:06 - Should listeners get to choose who we label as the poster child for generic Republicans?12:29 - How do we tame the administrative state? Would a constitutional amendment help?19:11 - Should "Die Hard" be rebooted? The State of the 2024 Presidential Campaign
Election Day 2024 is more than 16 months away, but the first Republican debate is less than two months away and voters in the first primary and caucus states will be casting their ballots in just a few months. Today, Jim and Greg examine the state of the campaign in three different ways.First, they look at the Democratic primary. While President Biden has a commanding lead over Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Marianne Williamson, the enthusiasm - even among Democrats - is very low for another four years of Biden. Will the Democrats stick with Biden regardless of his approval numbers and mounting evidence of physical and mental decline? Then they pivot to the Republican primary, where former President Trump has opened a big lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis both nationally and increasingly in the states. Is the GOP base loyalty towards Trump locked in and virtually irreversible or is there an avenue for DeSantis or anyone else to close the gap. Finally, they preview a likely Biden-Trump rematch and consider how much the electorate has changed in the past few years. Will Biden's poor performance be enough of a boost for Trump or will Trump's focus on 2020 and his legal challenges lead to another four years for Biden?Timestamps:1:07 - The Democrats are gambling on Joe Biden again9:18 - The curious case of Kamala Harris10:48 - The GOP primary. Has the base already sided with Trump?18:57 - Would Biden-Trump II be different than Biden-Trump I?Please visit our great sponsors:4Patriothttps://4Patriots.comUse code MARTINI to get 10% off your purchase. They then blast the FAA, the airlines, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for air travel turning into a miserable experience this summer. Finally, they discuss the recent Biden administration decision to provide a "safety net" for borrowers as student loan payments resume for the first time since the COVID pandemic hit.Timestamps: 1:19 - SCOTUS ruling on Affirmative Action11:14 - Airlines, Buttigieg blame each other for summer air travel problems18:45 - Biden administration plans "safety net" for borrowers on student loansPlease visit our great sponsors: 4Patriothttps://4Patriots.comUse code MARTINI to get 10% off your purchase.
