A new study from Dublin City University has found that smartphone bans in schools have little to no impact on students’ education, wellbeing, or online bullying. The study recommends involving students in policy decisions and shifting the focus away from blanket bans toward smarter, skills-based solutions. The first phase of the Human Tissue Act 2024 is due to come into operation from today, meaning everybody will be considered an organ donor unless they opt-out or are included in a so-called excluded group. The act will introduce an opt-out system of consent for organ donation and will allow for altruistic living organ donation to strangers.
