Wheel of Time Spoilers 264 – TFoH Ch43 - This Place, This day   Rand finds himself wondering whether he could have done something different, anything at all, to have steered his path away from this place, this day. The Chiefs have agreed on their plan, Rand's armies are in order, ready to march on the Shaido position outside Cairhien in a moment's notice. Egwene and Aviendha convince him to join them in the grim task he has set them on, slaughtering as many Shaido warriors with the One Power before they entangle themselves with Rand's Aiel. Mat attempts to escape Rand, the battle, and his destiny by sneaking off as the battle begins. As he crests a particularly tall hill he spies a group of Tairen and Cairhienin soldiers marching straight into a Shaido ambush. He rushes down to warn them, and somehow ends up in command of several thousand soldiers. So, he makes a plan. Wheel of Time Spoilers 262 – TFoH Ch41 – The Craft of Kin Tovere   The High Lord Weiramon has brought three separate groups of soldiers to Rand's army who would love nothing more than to not even look at each other. He insists that he should be allowed to attack immediatley. Rand thinks he's an idiot for believing 2,000 wetlanders should start skirmishing with more than 100,000 Shaido. We think Weiramon is not as dumb as he looks. The Dragon has no idea, but Weiramon is a darkfriend who very likely wants Rand to fail. Rand has hired a lens maker and a team of carpenters to build him a platform outside and high above the city from which the surrounding landscape and the battle itself can be observed. We will find out later, that it's his plan to use the raised platform to extend the view of channelers. The Shaido will be forced to dance with Rand, Egwene, and Aviendha's lightnings and fire, before they face his armies. Nynaeve allows the old Shienaran veteran, Uno to lead her into Samara. They walk through a warren of abandoned buildings and alleyways, to where The Prophet of The Dragon is holding peculiar kind of court. Nynaeve witnesses the Prophet Masema accept a “donation” from Alliandre, the current queen of Ghealdan, which consists of all the jewelry she happens to be wearing. The Prophet himself seems filled with a fanaticism bordering on madness. We believe he's been compelled with the intent of creating havoc in the name of the Dragon. Despite the air of fanaticism bordering on delusional mania, when Masema is informed that Nynaeve was the Lord Dragon's childhood baby-sitter, he agrees to use his resources to find her a boat headed toward Tear where she might be reunited with the Dragon. Her true intent though, is not to be reunited with Rand, but with the Rebel Tower in Salidar. Nynaeve sees Uno at the gathering of menageries outside of Samara. She greets him and drops an important name, Remember Uno? “We were with Rand”. He of course, remembers her immediately, curses about it, and drags Nynaeve away to a more private place to discuss this extremely sensitive topic. In some places, even talking about the Dragon can get you killed. We get our introduction to the Prophet, learn about the politics of this region, and Uno continues to lead Nynaeve to Masema, the self proclaimed Prophet of the Dragon. When Birgitte regains consciousness, she immediately realizes she's not in Tel'aran'rhiod anymore. Thom somehow recognizes her. Not much gets past him, but Elayne fills the men in on what they have missed. Luca bets the new-comer to his menagerie that she can't out shoot him in an archery competition. A sleepy Elayne lies awake, waiting for Nynaeve to return from the Dream. Nynaeve finally wakes, though she's destraught that she may have led Birgitte into a situation which got her killed. Thom pounds on the wagon door and quickly enters carrying the naked and near lifeless body of Birgitte. To their credit, it only takes the men a moment to realize who she is. Nynaeve rushes to revive the Hero of the Horn, but even her most sophisticated healing weaves have no effect. But, Elayne has an idea; the Warder Bond.
