Semirhage tortures Cabriana Mecandes for information to pass along to the newly reborn Arangar. She also ponders Shaidar Haran, and so do we. Mat's Band of the Red Hand is becoming more sophisticated in it's organization. We learn about Redarms, and how Mat enforces discipline on his army. After he hears some shouting outside, Mat discovers a Hunter for the Horn “Shaking a little boy like a dog with a rat” after apparently finding the boy sitting on his horse. Whether or not the boy was trying to steal the horse we're not sure but, that certainly has no bearing on Mat quickly taking a liking to 'the ugliest boy he'd ever seen'. An irascible old farmer named Hu discovered one morning that his best rooster had flown into a tall tree beside his farm pond and wouldn't come down, so he went to his neighbor, Wil, and asked for help. The men had never gotten along, but Wil finally agreed, so the two men went to the pond and began climbing the tree, Hu first. They meant to frighten the rooster out, you see, but the bird only kept flying higher, branch by branch. Then, just as Hu and the rooster reached almost the very top of the tree, with Wil right behind, there was a loud crack, the branch under Hu's feet broke away, and down he went into the pond, splashing water and mud everywhere. Wil scrambled down as fast as he could and reached out to Hu from the bank, but Hu just lay there on his back, sinking deeper into the mud until only his nose stuck out of the water. Another farmer had seen what happened, and he came running and pulled Hu out of the pond. 'Why didn't you take Wil's hand?' he asked Hu. 'You could have drowned.' 'Why should I take his hand now?' Hu grumped. Semirhage and Mesaana meet with Graendal and Demandred to relay and discuss the new message from the Great Lord, although Sammael has been manipulated into avoiding the meeting by Graendal. The message of course is the infamous “Let the Lord of Chaos Rule” order. Osan'gar and Aran'gar have been resurrected in an extremely uncomfortable way. The group of Tower Aes Sedai meeting with Shaido leaders has come to it's conclusion. The deal made at this meeting is the set up for the battle at Dumai's Wells. Sevanna is now the Defacto leader of the Shaido. Niall reveals that he does not believe in the Dragon Reborn, and possibly not even the Dark One himself, and that the last battle will be men fighting Shadowspawn. He meets Jaichim Carridin to discuss the Aes Sedai in Salidar, but Niall has decided to leave them be. Wheel of Time Spoilers 282 – LoC – The First Message Part 3 Faile holds court in Perrin's place. She's a true leader, and demonstrates an ability to makes wise judgments. Perrin could take a lesson! We witness firsthand the Two Rivers' rapid growth as it absorbs refugees some of whom are skilled laborers or tradesman now driving it's economy to a new level. Soon Emond's Field will be barely recognizable. The Wisdoms are growing fearful over the unnaturally hot weather, and Perrin can feel the Dragon pulling him away from his home again. Rand will need him at Dumai's Wells, and it will take Perrin precious time to get there. Gawyn and his younglings are accompanying a group Tower Aes Sedai to meet with representatives of the Shaido. He takes note of recent White Cloak movements, but Niall dies before he executes his those plans.  A peddler passing through tells Gawyn that Queen Morgase is rumored to be dead.
