God’s grace is powerful and real—it rescues us from sin and welcomes us into his family. Yet both Scripture and our own experiences reveal that grace can be resisted. On this Second Sunday after Easter, Pastor Evan shares his final message before beginning a 3-month sabbatical, focusing on Revelation 1:4–8 and the bold identity of Jesus Christ. He reminds us that Revelation is not about fear or confusion, but an “apocalypse”—a revealing—of Jesus as the present and reigning King. Under pressure, whether in the early church or today, followers of Jesus are invited to resist compromise and stay rooted in truth. At the heart of this teaching is this core truth: “Things are more than they seem,” and Jesus—who is coming, who is near, and who loves us—is worth our loyalty and worship.

On the first Easter morning, Mary Magdalene stood outside the empty tomb, weeping — and when she saw Jesus, she didn’t recognize him; she thought he was the gardener. But in that beautiful mistake, we glimpse something true: Jesus is the Gardener of New Creation, growing beauty and life right in the middle of our mess. Mary finally recognizes Him when He calls her by name, and it changes everything. But it doesn’t stop there — resurrection life isn’t just for you; it’s meant to be shared and lived out in community. Just like Jesus called Mary, He calls you by name, and His desire is for you to flourish with your sisters and brothers.

Jesus has entered the room. Every eye will see him, but not every heart will receive him in the same way. On Palm Sunday, this is the question each of us must answer honestly: Will Jesus find my heart humble and ready to fully trust him, or will he find me resisting his loving rule in some way? Only full submission to this King leads to our fullness of joy.
