Attorneys for the two suspects in the murder of Jocelyn Nungaray are calling for a gag order in the case.   Judge Josh Hill ultimately denied the request, but in court documents urged everyone involved to refrain from making extrajudicial comments on the case. The 12-year-old girl's family heard in harsh detail what happened to Jocelyn. Prosecutors say she fought like a superhero, fighting with her dying breath, leaving visible marks.  Johan Jose Rangel Martinez and Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, tie her hands behind her back, bind her feet, take off her shirt, and abuse her for hours under a bridge in north Houston.   Even though the police and the prosecutor believe Jocelyn was raped before she was strangled, the suspects are not charged with sexual assault as the rape kit results are still pending. The Harris County District Attorney, Kim Ogg, says they believe the evidence is clear that a sexual assault likely took place, but the defendants are not admitting yet. However, if the lab tests confirm that 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray was raped, the capital murder charge can be upgraded to one where they are death penalty eligible. In a dramatic court scene, a family member of Jocelyn Nungaray shouts "murderer" at Rangel-Martinez, while another shouts in Spanish, "I hope they kill your children." Caylee Anthony had been missing for five months before her small body was found near the Anthony home, wrapped in a blanket and placed inside a garbage bag, discarded in a wooded area. Her mother, Casey Anthony, was then charged with first-degree murder. Since being acquitted by a jury, Anthony has made headlines several times, most recently for dating a married man and allegedly breaking up a 22-year marriage. She met her latest partner, Tyson Ray Rhodes, an engineer for an aerospace company, at a South Florida gym where they both worked out. Rhodes and his wife of 22 years moved from South Florida to Tennessee earlier this year, and Anthony reportedly followed. The pair have been seen together at an upscale Tennessee apartment complex, getting into Rhodes' truck, both dressed in workout clothes. Several new lawsuits alleging sexual assault have brought Sean "Diddy" Combs' legal battles into double digits, with the latest filed by former "Making the Band" contestant Dawn Richard. The former Danity Kane singer claims the Bad Boy CEO manipulated her with promises to advance her music career in exchange for complying with his abusive demands. Richard also details Combs' alleged abusive behavior toward his ex-girlfriends, Kim Porter and Cassie Ventura. She recalls seeing Porter leave a recording session in tears, with what appeared to be fresh injuries on her face. Richard also witnessed multiple incidents of violence involving Ventura. Adria English, a dancer who performed at Combs' famous annual "White Party," has filed her own lawsuit, accusing him of grooming her for sex trafficking. Combs was recently hit with a $100 million judgment for failing to appear in court for a separate lawsuit. PhD student Nicole Virzi remains in custody on charges of homicide, aggravated assault, and endangering the welfare of children. While visiting friends in Pittsburgh, Virzi cared for 6-week-old twins to give the mother a break. Both boys ended up in the hospital, and one died. EMTs transported Leon Katz and his father to the hospital shortly before midnight, but Nicole Virzi did not stay long. She was seen returning to her Airbnb just before 1 a.m., struggling to unlock the door. By 5 a.m., Virzi appeared to be preparing to leave town. Security footage captured her making what seemed to be a hasty exit less than five hours later. Although she was booked for two more nights at the apartment, Virzi appeared to be leaving. She was seen on security video leaving the building at 5:45 a.m. She reached for her phone and made a call while standing on the sidewalk. At 5:47 a.m., Leon Katz was pronounced dead. Three minutes later, at 5:50 a.m., police arrived at the Airbnb, and two officers approached Virzi on the sidewalk, quickly placing her in a patrol car. She was then transported to police headquarters, where she agreed to questioning without an attorney present. A request by Bryan Kohberger's defense team for a change of venue has been granted. His attorneys argued that the strong emotions in the community and extensive media coverage would make it impossible to find an impartial jury in Moscow. The defense also claimed that if Kohberger were acquitted in the town where the murder took place, he could face lynching and riots might erupt. Prosecutors countered, saying any potential bias could be addressed by expanding the pool of potential jurors and carefully vetting them. However, Judge John Judge ruled in favor of the defense, citing concerns about Kohberger's ability to receive a fair trial in the Latah County courthouse in Moscow. He referenced the widespread media coverage and statements from public officials implying Kohberger’s guilt. Additionally, the judge noted practical concerns: the courthouse is too small to accommodate the case, and the county sheriff's office lacks the personnel to provide adequate security. The judge did not specify where the trial would be moved. The Idaho Supreme Court will decide where Kohberger's trial will be held. According to Idaho court rules, judges who approve venue changes can indicate if they wish to remain on the case, but Judge John Judge did not do so, instead granting the motion under a rule that requires a new judge to be assigned. It remains unclear when the Idaho Supreme Court will assign a new venue or judge, or whether these changes will delay the trial. The father of the teen boy arrested in the mass shooting at a high school in Winder, Georgia, has also been arrested, held accountable for his son Colt Gray's actions. Colin Gray faces charges including four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children. These charges stem from allowing his son to possess a weapon. The FBI first investigated Colt Gray in May 2023 after receiving a tip about a school shooting threat via Discord, a gaming chat platform. Colin Gray told investigators he had been teaching his son about "firearms and safety" and how to hunt. He stated that if his son had made any threats, he "would be mad as hell and then all the guns would be taken away." Colt denied making threats. After the investigation, Colin Gray purchased his son an AR-15-style rifle as a gift.
