STEPHEN SMITH BODY EXHUMED, High Security Escorts Body to Tampa

The body of Stephen Smith has been exhumed, autopsied and reinterred.  A SLED security team accompanied the body to a location in Florida where the examination took place. Information on the new autopsy has not be released yet.  Meanwhile,  news of two possible persons of interest has come to light.  Investigation into those leads are continuing.  Stephen Smith's body was discovered on a rural road in Hampton county back in 2015. Just 2-weeks ago the South Carolina law enforcement division announced they are now investigating Smith's death as a homicide. Smith's death was initially investigated as a hit-and-run but investigators say the evidence did not support that as a cause of death. Body Bags with Joseph Scott Morgan: The Unexplained Death of Stephen Smith

Stephen Smith died mysteriously in 2015 in South Carolina. Though his death was initially ruled a hit-and-run, it has more recently gained attention following the 2021 murders of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh, which lead to the reopening of his case two years ago. The Murdaugh family was mentioned in the initial investigation, but no charges were filed. Smith was found dead with a large gash on his forehead, a partially dislocated shoulder, and cuts and bruises on his hand. Authorities initially thought Smith had been shot, but no bullet or fragments were found. In March 2023, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) officially ruled Smith's death as a homicide. In this episode of Body Bags, forensics expert Joseph Scott Morgan and reporter Dave Mack discuss what types of injuries one sustains when hit by a vehicle, why Joe and Dave think the perpetrator was likely a local, exhumation, mirror strikes, and more.  Subscribe to Body Bags with Joseph Scott Morgan : Apple Podcasts Spotify iHeart Show Notes: 0:00 - Intro 1:26 - Encountering unexpected road obstacles 4:30 - Open homicide with lots to still investigate 6:45 - What happens when you call 911? 11:10 - Misidentifying a gunshot wound as a hit and run 13:00 - Joe describes types of injuries and evidence left on a vehicle when it strikes a pedestrian 20:40 -  Why Joe and Dave think the perpetrator was likely a local 22:10 - Besides head trauma, what other physical damage would you expect to see in a hit and run case? 23:40 - What is a mirror strike? 27:25 -  Exhumation and its challenges 34:00 - The importance of thorough examination including high-quality imaging and analysis  38:25 - OutroSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

PLEA DEAL: 13-Year-Old Cheerleader Stabbed Dead, Classmate Sentenced LIFE IN PRISON

A judge sentenced Aiden Fucci, now 16, to life in prison after his conviction of first-degree murder for stabbing a 13-year-old girl over 100 times.  Fucci entered his guilty plea earlier this year.   During the investigation surveillance photos show the mother of teen murder suspect Aiden Fucci washing his clothes the day Tristyn Bailey was murdered. Crystal Smith was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence in connection to the 14-year-old's death.  The former classmates had grown up in the same neighborhood but it does not appear that Fucci targeted Bailey specifically, though friends later said Fucci claimed he would kill someone in the near future. Surveillance video appears to show the pair walking together early the morning of May 9. Fucci is later seen running, alone, from the same area. Did 'Porny' Mormon Dentist Charged With Poisoning Wife Dead TRICK CHURCH MEMBERS?

As a Colorado dentist faces murder charges connected to the poisoning death of his wife, new information shows James Craig asked his church for help in cleaning his basement, while his wife lay dying in the hospital.  Police say James Craig bought arsenic and cyanide and secretly poisoned his wife's protein shakes. Angela Craig had made many recent hospital visits, and checked into a hospital again, complaining of a severe headache and dizziness. At around 2 p.m. she had a seizure. Craig was then moved to ICU and placed on life support. Her condition quickly declined and she died.  After Craig's death, one of James Craig's co-workers told a nurse that the dentist had ordered potassium cyanide which was delivered to the office. There was no medical reason for the order. Police seized the husband's computer and found disturbing searches. Stephen Smith's family is close to answers about his death as attorneys work to get approved to exhume Smith's body.  Smith's death was originally designated a hit-and-run, but something uncovered in the Alex Murdaugh double-murder investigation prompted the South Carolina Highway Patrol to reopen the investigation.
