Lisa's the perfect person to speak to these issues as she served as the Chief Counsel for Nominations on the United States Senate Judiciary Committee under Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT), and as Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the United States Department of Justice during the Clinton Administration. Graves also worked as the Senior Legislative Strategist on national security issues for the American Civil Liberties Union, and as an adjunct professor at the George Washington University Law School. I can't wait to pick her brain!

Just when you think things can't get any more dire for the president, another week happens, and more crises of his making emerge. As I try to do every day, I'll bring you up to date on all that's happening in impeachment world and beyond. Today is Thursday, that means Howie Klein of Down with Tyranny and the Blue America PAC is mixing up a batch of Dirty Debbies! And today also happens to mark 40 years since I lost my mom. It's one of those moments that you never get over.

The Impeachment Inquiry is in full swing. But the first phase is investigatory. Depositions are being taken behind closed doors, as the Democrats get all their facts in order before transitioning into the hearing phase, which will be public and, I'm sure, televised. But the Republicans are getting antsy, going so far as to storm the SCIF where today's closed-door testimony is under way. Yesterday brought the most explosive allegations so far.
