This week, lawmakers returned to Capitol Hill only to face a critical deadline. This past week, America marked 23 years since thousands of Americans were killed in a series of terrorist attacks in New York City, Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C.. In our nation’s capital, 184 people were murdered when hijackers crashed American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon. Texas State Senator Brian Birdwell (R) was there on September 11th, 2001. The August Consumer Price Index gave the Fed the vindication it was looking for: inflation fell to 2.5 percent. While core inflation remains sticky, Fed Chair Powell has projected confidence in a September rate cut. A new report released on inflation shows the August Consumer Price Index (CPI) report, which does not include volatile food and energy prices, rose an expected 3.2% from a year earlier. It was a higher-than-anticipated increase by 0.3% but is the slowest rate of inflation in three years. Overall, the report indicates that inflationary pressures continues to ease for the in the U.S. economy are continuing to ease, but prices of everyday goods remain high.
