Business Rundown: Bank Earnings, Tesla's Robotaxi Skeptics, & DOJ Plans To Break Up Google
On the heels of their positive earnings report, America's biggest bank JPMorgan Chase came out in favor of the forecast that the US economy is healthy and headed for a soft landing. At Tesla's big robotaxi event, CEO Elon Musk said that by 2027, American consumers will be able to buy one of his two-seater Cybercabs for less than 30,000 dollars. Unfortunately for Tesla, the event left many investors with more questions than answers, causing Tesla shares to slide 9 percent on Friday. And last week, the U.S. Department of Justice began considering how they could go about breaking up the big tech giant, Google. The Southeast is still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Helene and now Hurricane Milton. Florida faced direct hits from both of those hurricanes, with damages estimated in the billions of dollars. Vice President Harris is on defense on the campaign trail over the readiness of FEMA for both hurricanes and is also attempting to curate a more moderate image ahead of Election Day. The Vice President has also recruited former Presidents Obama and Clinton to stump for her in swing states, as polls show the race is tightening. From Washington: FEMA'S Financial Stand Still
Calls for Congress to return from October recess continue to grow after two devastating hurricanes tore through the Southeastern part of the United States. President Joe Biden says he supports providing FEMA with $15 billion to fund the recovery effort and warned that FEMA will struggle to make it through the rest of hurricane season if Congress doesn't step in. FOX News Senior Congressional Correspondent Chad Pergram explains whether or not government entities will be able to meet the financial demands following both storms. The Supreme Court justices returned to the bench this week for the start of a new term. The High Court has selected 40 cases to look over this term, from Ghost Guns to medical marijuana and whether or not minors can receive puberty blockers. Yet, the Justices decided to forgo the controversial IVF case from Alabama, sparking speculation that the court doesn't want to involve itself with sensitive cases during an election year.
