Extra: DOGE's Hope To Take A Bite Out Of Big Government

President-elect Donald Trump's new Department of Government Efficiency is creating a lot of waves—and high expectations—in Washington. But questions remain about what the department can do to cut waste, fraud, and abuse without the assistance of Congress. Fox News Rundown host Jessica Rosenthal recently spoke with Florida Republican Congressman Aaron Bean, the founder of the newly launched House Doge caucus. Doge, in this case, stands for delivering outstanding government efficiency. Rep. Bean explained how he and his colleagues would help assist Trump’s efficiency panel co-leaders, Telsa CEO Elon Musk and former 2024 presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, and where he thinks cost-saving changes can be made immediately. He also discussed the dire need to reduce America’s $36 trillion national debt and why the GOP should feel pressure to make an impactful change, as he believes that’s the message voters sent this past election. We often must cut interviews short during the week, but we thought you might like to hear the full interview. Today on Fox News Rundown Extra, we will share our entire interview with Rep. Aaron Bean and let you hear more of his take on America’s debt crisis and how he thinks Republicans should address it. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

The Department Of Education. Should It Stay Or Should It Go?

On the campaign trail, President-elect Trump made big promises when it came to education, calling for an end to the Department of Education. Then candidate Trump pointed out anti-Semitism on college campuses, transgender women in women's sports, and "woke" teachings for the reasons why he would slash the department. He's charged former business executive Linda McMahon as his nominee to lead the department, with many fearing that cuts could cause a shakeup for public schools. Former Department of Education Secretary during the first Trump administration, Betsy DeVos, joins the Rundown to discuss why she believes the Department of Education has become obsolete.Earlier this week, the Trump administration announced plans to impose 25% tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico, as well as 10% tariffs on goods from China. Many experts have criticized the plan, saying it will increase inflation and harm the relationship with the border countries. Professor emeritus at the University of Maryland and tariff expert Peter Morici joins to break down Trump's plan and share insights on what would happen to the economy.Plus, commentary from the host of “Tomi Lahren is Fearless on Outkick,” Tomi Lahren.Photo Credit: AP Learn more about your ad choices.
