President-elect Donald Trump's new Department of Government Efficiency is creating a lot of waves—and high expectations—in Washington. But questions remain about what the department can do to cut waste, fraud, and abuse without the assistance of Congress. The acting ICE Director Patrick Lechleitner said the dangerous Venezuelan gang 'Tren de Aragua' (TdA) now poses enough of a threat in the U.S. that a new priority task force has been formed to combat them. The task force named 'Operation Athens' in honor of nursing student Laken Riley who was murdered by a TdA member in Athens, Georgia. The Israeli Security Cabinet has approved a ceasefire deal with Hezbollah, an agreement the United States helped broker. The ceasefire has a sixty day transition period when the Israeli Army withdraws from Lebanon and the Lebanese moves it to secure it. Israel retains the right to use force if they are attacked again but would need to provide proof of a violation of the deal.
