In a historic prisoner exchange brokered by multiple countries, three Americans and one American green-card holder who were unjustly imprisoned in Russia have been released. Those released include American veteran Paul Whelan, Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, Radio Free Europe journalist Alsu Kurmasheva, and Russian journalist Vladimir Kara-Murza. In return, a group of Russian dissidents were swapped including an assassin and several accused of cybercrimes. The 2024 presidential race has grown tighter, as FOX News polling shows the candidates dead even in key battleground states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. The political leader of the terror group Hamas has been killed in Tehran and while Israel has not taken responsibility, it is presumed they were behind the attack. Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated while he slept in an IRCG compound in Iran's capital after attending the inauguration of the country's new president. Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe Jr. testified before the Senate on Tuesday, saying he could not defend why the roof in Butler, Pennsylvania, was not secure during former President Donald Trump's July 13th rally where he was nearly assassinated. The Israeli Defense Force say they conducted a drone strike in Beirut in response to a missile attack that killed twelve children and teenagers in the Golan Heights. The drone strike killed killed the Hezbollah commander accused of orchestrating the attack on a children's soccer field. Israel and the United States say that Hezbollah was responsible but the terror group has denied having anything to do with the attack.
