As we raise incomes in NZ, something else is happening...we are getting people closer and closer to a 30% tax bracket which kicks in from $48,000 of income. The pay decrease - the increase in interest paid to the bank leading to less money left in the household for spending. Kiwis are obsessed with ‘locking in’ the best interest rate and playing the ‘will they go up or down’ game. Economists at three of the four largest banks see house prices dropping in 2022. The average value of NZ homes increased by $17,227 in November. The average value is now $987,401, according to the CoreLogic House Price Index. Over the year to the end of November, the average value of New Zealand homes is up $218,388.Hey thanks for listening!
