The NBA Bubble is working... for now! (7/21)

Today's word of the day is 'nada' or nil or zero as in the amount of positive tests within the NBA bubble. This is a great sign. It means the bubble will work if the players buy into it. Is the bubble working (0:06)? The NFL got to see how bad negotiations went between MLB and MLBPA which helped them out immensely. On Monday the NFL 'gave in' and offered the players zero preseason games. There could be ramped up testing of up to once a day for two weeks straight. Is everything perfect in the NFL (8:24)? So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me for my thoughts on Dr. Fauci throwing out the first pitch for Opening Day in Washington DC. Not only are the Nationals the defending World Series champions, they're also playing the New York Yankees (16:47). San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler became the first MLB manager kneel during the National Anthem. More history was made in that game as Alyssa Nakken became the first woman to coach on the field during the game. Something else also happened - Kapler said he may not tell his starting pitcher they're starting until gameday... what (27:53)? Review - Married (39:07). It looks like the Toronto Blue Jays will be playing home games in Pittsburgh. I was very wrong about this (42:30). #waittosee---------------------------Nominate Nothing Personal with David Samson for the People's Choice Podcast Awards: http://podcastawards.com/app/signup/ 'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts.  Follow David on Twitter: @DavidPSamson To watch David on CBS Sports HQ visit https://www.cbssports.com/live/To hear more from the CBS Sports Podcast Network, visit https://www.cbssports.com/podcasts/https://www.youtube.com/nothingpersonalwithdavidsamson Learn more about your ad choices. NFL superstars launch social media campaign to get answers (7/20)

Today's word of the day is 'synchronized' as in NFL stars take to Twitter to call out the NFL on health protocols. Myles Garrett, JJ Watt, Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Donald, Todd Gurley, Drews Brees, Richard Sherman, and numerous other NFL players all tweeted out statements at the same time. Different statements, but the same goal. Will this strategy work (0:06)? So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me what Toronto Blue Jays staffers need to do now that Canada will not allow MLB to take place this season. They want me to explain the details of the team looking for a new ballpark a week before the season starts (11:48). Review - Emma (30:55). One of the biggest stories in MLB this weekend concerned Yankees suspended pitcher Domingo German. He sent out a release saying he was done with baseball and leaving the game. The very next day he released another statement saying he was sorry for the confusion, but he still wants to continue playing. He was suspended for 81 games for violating MLB's domestic violence rules. What is going on here (39:05)? Washington owner Daniel Snyder thinks we're all fools (7/17)

Today's word of the day is 'rope-a-dope' as in what Daniel Snyder is trying to do right now. The Washington Post released a major story that described a horrific workplace under Snyder with the Washington pro football team. 15 women stepped forward with their stories involving either sexual harassment and verbal abuse. The article outlines how some key employees in Daniel Snyder's inner circle tormented these women for years (0:06). The NFL has a lot on its mind right now. The battle between the NFL and the NFLPA is heating up. Yesterday some economic issues were made public and today the issues of health are public (29:02). Review - The Assistant (37:50). The Alex Rodriguez Saga continues. He is doing everything wrong to try and buy the New York Mets. Let me explain why (41:10). Hey Twitter people, think before you tweet (7/16)

Today's word of the day is 'felony' as in what NFL WR Kenny Stills was charged with protesting on the lawn of the Kentucky Attorney General's house. Let's have an honest discussion about the law and why these charges won't stick (0:06). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me about Dwyane Wade's tweets from yesterday. They wanted to know if Wade had enough goodwill to overcome his deleted tweets (9:50). Dak Prescott did not get his long-term deal from the Dallas Cowboys. This is significant news. What happened between Dak Prescott and Jerry Jones (21:55)? Review - The Old Guard (29:52). NASCAR held an event last night with 20K fans in the stands. Is this the beginning of the return to normalcy? What does this mean for other leagues (33:30)? A quick update on the Elena Della Donne situation. 1-800-NBA-SNITCH: Who's calling the NBA snitch-line? (7/15)

Today's word of the day is '   ' it's silence. A moment of silence. Jimmy Butler has asked the NBA if he could have his last name removed from his jersey when play resumes. NBA has opened up pandora's box with this jersey situation. LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Joel Embiid are going with their last names. Some players are going with messaging like 'freedom' or 'equality'. The NBA messed this up (0:06). CONFERENCE CALL! Let's role play what it must be like for players to call the NBA Snitch Line (6:23). With sports starting to come back there is a lot of confusion concerning players choosing to opt-out. Let's walk through everything you need to know about this situation. There are major differences between David Price, Ellena Della Donne, Carlos Vela, and Buster Posey (13:35). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me about Friday's podcast when I talked about the idea of mob mentality when talking about Desean Jackson. They asked why do I feel there was a much bigger reaction over Drew Brees’s comments on the flag than Desean Jackson’s comment (26:03). Review - Irresistible (32:50). MLB players have a problem. A very big problem this season. It comes in the form of vesting options. JA Happ has to hit a specific number of incentives in order to have his contract next season guaranteed. This is not good for the shortened season (37:15). NBA Bubble is ready to burst (7/14)

Today's word of the day is 'supremes' as in Diana Ross as in STOP in the name of love! Sacramento Kings Richaun Holmes got caught leaving the NBA Bubble to pick up delivery food and now must quarantine for 10 days. How far away did Holmes have to go to get his food? Why can you go golfing or walk around the Disney, but picking up food is a major no-no (0:06)!? Cubs manager David Ross and five other employees missed workouts on Monday because tests results were delayed. This is completely unacceptable (8:27). Another major issue that came out of this is that the Arizona Diamondbacks are using public resources to get testing done. How can this happen (13:18)? I've said it before and I will scream it again... Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez will not buy the New York Mets (17:24). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me when I hear or read about team valuations is the reported amount for the General Partner interest or does it include the Limited Partner's interest as well (28:48). Review - David Foster: Off The Record (37:15). Bonus Word of the Day: Bastille. Let's talk about Bastille Day. Daniel Snyder changes the Washington Redskins to the... wait to see (7/13)

Today's word of the day is 'transparent' as in what the Washington Redskins have done with their new name selection. It was announced on Sunday that the team would announce on Monday, something. No one knew what it was, but we knew it would be about the team name. And the team released a press release that is so hilariously bad, I have to comment on it (0:06). So You Wanna Talk to Samson!? Someone asked me, regarding the Washington Redskins, what goes into picking a new team name... well, this is it in two parts (13:03). Hall of Fame coach Lou Holtz had some very controversial comments about players returning to play (20:37). Adrian Wojnarowski has been suspended by ESPN after a profane response to an email of a Missouri Senator (25:50). NBA bubble update! Players will have to show up to games in warmups and uniforms. There is no more tunnel fashion show (34:44). Review - Palm Springs. The reason behind MLB's 2021 early schedule release (7/10)

Today's word of the day is '2021' as in MLB released the schedule for next season. This has never been done this early before. Why would they do it now? CASH MONEY (0:06). Big Ten made a major announcement on Thursday that they would move to a full conference-only schedule this Fall. How big of a deal is this (5:45)? Standby, while I give an update on Buster Posey electing to opt-out of the 2020 MLB season (11:32). Okay, back to college sports. The NCAA says it's no big deal because they're leaving everything up to each conference. They released a statement basically saying, "good luck." (15:12) Julian Edelman offered up a deal to DeSean Jackson after Jackson's anti-semitic posts on social media (18:46). Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie is ready to release a documentary on Hitler, now, in 2020. What are we learning from everything that's going on in this new world (25:40)? Review - Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (31:24). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me about Newcastle United possibly getting new Saudi owners. What would I do if there were questionable buyers emerging, would I still sell (36:10)? What the Ivy League's fall sports announcement means for college football (7/9)

Today's word of the day is 'ivy' as in the Ivy League announcement fall sports will be postponed until at least January 1, 2021. This is a major decision in the college sports world. This league was first when coronavirus impacted college basketball so it's no surprise they were first here. Let's discuss why this is so important (0:06). Stanford announcement major cuts to athletic programs. 11 of 36 sports are being cancelled, but with such a huge endowment, why would Stanford do this (13:45)? The NFL's new big idea is that players after the game are forbidden postgame interactions and jersey-swaps. What is going on? How will that work after they play a whole game against each other (21:19)? Review - Top 5 Tom Hanks movies (23:45). Nashville wants a MLB team. Dave Dombrowski has signed on to be a consultant. Will this happen (28:30)? And a short conversation on the sale of the New York Mets and who likely wins it. It's time to talk about the umpires in MLB. We've held a lot of discussions about players and fans, but the umpires are just as important (41:30).
