Ideas Have Consequences
Everything that we see around us is the product of ideas, of ideologies, of worldviews. That's where everything starts. Worldviews are not all the same, and the differences matter a lot. How do you judge a tree? By its fruits. How do you judge a worldview? By its physical, tangible, observable fruit. The things it produces. Ideas that are noble and true produce beauty, abundance, and human flourishing. Poisonous ideas produce ugliness. They destroy and dehumanize. It really is that simple. Welcome to Ideas Have Consequences, the podcast of Disciple Nations Alliance, where we prepare followers of Christ to better understand the true ideas that lead to human flourishing while fighting against poisonous ideas that destroy nations. Join us, and prepare your minds for action!

Full-Time: Work and the Meaning of Life with David Bahnsen
We have an active, working, creative God who created humanity to be like Him. As such, our daily work should be a source of meaning and purpose in our lives. Yet, even among believers, work is often approached as a burden that remains an unfortunate means to a better end, like the weekend or even retirement. In contrast, the Bible often equates our work with our worship. When did we forget this? Over the last decade, the rate of prime-aged men in the U.S. not working has been lower than it was during the Great Depression! However, unlike during the Great Depression, most of these men are choosing not to work. In the words of today's guest, we are undergoing an epidemic of worklessness. Why is this? What happened? Is the church partially to blame for this? Today’s guest David Bahnsen has an inspiring biblical worldview that encompasses all areas of his life. He is simultaneously named one of the top financial advisors in America by Barron’s, Forbes and the Financial Times while teaching and writing about the integration of faith and economics on the side. In his newest book, Full-Time: Work and the Meaning of Life, Bahnsen makes the case that our work plays an integral part in providing meaning and purpose into our lives and is one of our most important avenues of discipleship and influence. This discussion is for you if you are searching for ways to integrate theology into every part of your daily work. Faith Deconstruction: Helpful or Destructive?
Deconstruction is a phrase that is becoming increasingly common. Many even in the faith community have started using this phrase. What is the result of this phenomenon? How is it impacting young people of faith? Is there anything useful or redeeming about it or is it always destructive? Today, we trace the evolution of deconstruction back to its philosophical roots with Jacques Derrida and unpack how it's reshaping Western thought and the spiritual landscape inside many churches. We look at this in a historical context and consider the worldviews behind this phenomenon of deconstruction. Finally, we examine the rising trend of faith deconstruction in Christian culture, looking at what it is, who is doing it, why it’s happening, and how we can respond to those who say they are deconstructing their faith.View the transcript, leave comments, and check out recommended resources on the Episode Landing Page!Disciple Nations Alliance Website

Needed! Boldness and Discernment in an Era of Distortion
Are we losing sight of truth in a culture smothered by falsehoods? Even within the church, according to Barna, 41% of American Christians believe that the only truth a person can know is whatever is right for them individually. In this episode we want to help arm you with an understanding of why truthfulness is not just a noble virtue but a critical armor in today's culture, especially for Christians navigating through the fog of misinformation. We tackle the potent blend of social media and deceptive narratives head-on, addressing the alarmingly popular theories of evolution, and the pressing need for Christians to be the lighthouses of truth as we sail into uncharted waters. Our discussion extends into the societal impact of weaponized propaganda, through the 1619 project, the BLM movement, the social contagion of the sex and gender ideologies, the Covid origins, and the current events in the Gaza strip. Join us as we explore ways to grasp the framework or lens through which we can discern the narratives shaping our public consciousness. The solution is not ignorance, self censorship, doublethink, or winsomeness. The solution is found in the very essence of truth as embodied in Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth and the Life.View the transcript, leave comments, and check out recommended resources on the Episode Landing Page!Donate to The Disciple Nations Alliance

Christianity is Good for the Nation with Dennis Peacocke and Katherine Gallagher
Christians are increasingly criticized for their opinions in the public square and often labeled as Christian nationalists. But should this criticism cause us to retract our opinions and retreat? Or is Christian cultural engagement exactly what our nations need? We are called to faithfully reflect Christ not only in our personal lives, but everywhere–in our families, churches, workplaces, and yes, truth must even influence politics, and our work in public institutions and culture. Our guests, Dennis Peacocke and Katherine Gallagher from our affiliate organization, GoStrategic, help us consider strategies and practical ways that we can meaningfully engage in these areas for Christ, and for the nations.View the transcript, leave comments, and check out recommended resources on the Episode Landing Page!Disciple Nations Alliance Website

Why Jordan Peterson, Ayaan Hirsi Ali & Others are Turning to Christianity
The Western world has been described as a cut flower. This flower was beautiful and flourishing while rooted in a Judeo-Christian worldview, and yet, as it became increasingly secular and rejected God, it cut itself off from its roots. Today, the flower still looks good, but it will soon wither and die if nothing changes. In this episode, we look at the increasing number of former atheists, Muslims, and agnostics who are calling out the erosion of Western civilization along with its former values of human rights, justice, and freedom. These people–including Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Jordan Peterson, Douglas Murray, Tom Holland, and more–are understanding that these Western values came from the Bible. If Western society rejects God, it will also lose the virtuous and moral framework that created its foundation. This realization is leading to an awakening. It is a unique journey that has led people from an analysis of the culture and the West to the cross.Join us as we unpack the roots that nourished the West. We consider the incredibly good impact the Bible can have on culture and the devastation we can anticipate when it’s rejected. We live in a pivotal moment in history. The consequences of rejecting God are evident in our society, providing us with a fresh opportunity to promote goodness, truth, and beauty, rooted in the Bible once again.View the transcript, leave comments, and check out recommended resources on the Episode Landing Page!Disciple Nations Alliance Website
